If I didn't know better I'd think that sound was coming from a $1000 synth. I picked a good time to get into electronic music.

Thanks for these demos - really clear and straight forward.

Thanks mark, I feel like I'm getting a much greater grasp of how to "operate" this synth. I'll need to get my hands on one soon.

Again, brilliant review. This is a nifty little box to be honest. Quite cool. It's got some 'twiddle appeal' with some knobs to play with (which I like). When space is tight in the home studio, this would easily find a corner to sit in.

5:22 There some shades of Tommy Tallarico's Earthworm Jim soundtrack, to my ears. Thanks for these videos. I'm finding out that this little box can do a lot more than I was first aware of.

So I just picked up the Volca FM which completes my collection of Volcas. Would you be so kind as to recommend me an ANALOG mixer or sequencer (I can build one, if its simple soldering)?
@TheTobiasVaughn7 жыл бұрын
A sequencer is a nightmare to build. Check Markus Fuller who has a video about the Korg SQ-1 that shows the circuit diagram for a DIY sequencer.The SQ-1 is a good sequencer for Volcas. I also use it to sequence my Monotribe and my MS-20.

Volca Mixer is a very good mixer which can take 3 Volca inputs

Getting a lot out of these, Marc. Re your comment at 9:46 about unison mode putting all six operators on one note: assuming all six are active, that's always the case regardless of mono/poly/unison mode, correct? That is, all six operators form each note.
@TheSuperMrG136 жыл бұрын
so in polyphonic each note only has 2 operators? how does that effect the sound?

Does anyone know why unison mode sounds different from mono mode? Are the voices detuned slightly or not in phase on purpose or is this something else?
@greengoose94724 жыл бұрын
its playing with all three voices an octave apart

A "really fast LFO" isn't really an LFO anymore, it's an audio oscillator, no?

Interesting, just a keyboard is mandatory, cause it's just too hard to play chords on the volca! 😅
