Swamiji: It is said that both the Vedas and the 18 Puranas were written by Veda Vyasa. If Vedas are dated 10,000 BC or 20,000 or 30,000 BC, and you said Shiva purana is not even 1000 years old, how can the same author Veda Vyasa could have written both? A word of clarification is deeply appreciated. In addition, the same author Veda Vyasa refers Surya, Chandra as Rudra in the 8th Anuvaka of Rudram, but in Puranas, Surya becomes Suryanarayana with Shanidevaru and Yama as his children ! How is this possible.

Veda Vyasa may not have been one rishi but a series of rishis who used the same pen name "veda vyasa" to preserve the knowledge through generations...just a possibility.
