Hi Ian, good idea with the box and the top plate, it solves having that void under the track 👌

Hi John, thanks! Yes, the void was definitely worrying me, but this seems like a nice solution - although it will be a little time consuming to produce these for every point! Oh well, I'm in no hurry! All the best, Ian.

I’m looking forward to seeing this on the layout Ian, it’s a good solution mate, cheers, John

Thanks John, me too! I just need to find a way of making them consistently! Cheers, Ian.

Hi Ian - very ingenious! These will be the "poshest" point installations on any N gauge layout. Puts my efforts to shame 😔. Cheers Euan

Thanks very much Euan! Haha! Only the best for the folk of Shelfington! Cheers, Ian.

Hi Ian An interesting idea, I await your developments on this. Thanks

Hi Pete, thanks! My plan is to either get a 3D printer, and learn how to make the boxes and guard plates using it, or get something like a Cricut machine, so I can cut pieces of card more precisely! Cheers, Ian.

Greetings Shelfington and hello Ian 👋 Nothing better than a qiuckie on a Thursday evening 😳 Another fascinating and entertaining examination of installing point motors in foam 😁 the box will definitely add rigidity to the point, which should help dampen the force those solenoids kick out 🤔 Looking forward to next Thursday already 😉 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️

Hi Paul and the Emerald Isle folk! Hehe! I'm not usually known for my speed, but we have an exception here! Thank you! The box will also add some stability, as quite a big hole is required when you consider these point motors work on OO as well as N gauge! I'm always worrying that the point will fall into the hole without something to support it! Next week is about fixing foam to the baseboard I think! All the best from Shelfington, and Ian.

Ian that's a great solution as I have seen layouts where they have just left the hole under the point and it' is a bit unsightly. So far I have not had that issue as all my points to date have been on the baseboard level. I think I may need a solution for the new modules where there will be raised track and points.

Thanks very much Chris! Yes, you've got the opposite problem to me! Hardly any of my points will be at baseboard level, and even then, I'm thinking of raising them up so I don't have to cut holes in the baseboard! It'll be interesting to see what solution you come up with for your Four Oaks Street! All the best, Ian.
