Do you know the ever-great mystic song of Amir Khusroo: (Persian language) نمی دانم چه محفل بود ، شب جایی که من بودم به هر سو رقص بسمل بود ، شب جایی که من بودم (Roman script) Nami danam chi manzil bood shab jaay ki man boodam; Baharsu raqs-e bismil bood shab jaay ki man boodam. (English translation) I wonder what was the place where I was last night, All around me were half-slaughtered victims of love, tossing about in agony. خدا خود میر مجلس بود اندر لامکان خسرو محمد شمع محفل بود ، شب جایی که من بودم "Khuda khud meer-e majlis bood andar laamakan Khusrau; Muhammad shamm-e mehfil bood shab jaay ki man boodam." God himself was the master of ceremonies in that heavenly court, oh Khusrau, where (the face of) the Prophet too was shedding light like a candle. See, this is the sate of Consciousness (Haal), in which Khusroo saw himself in a place, full of lovers (Aashiqs) tossing about in divine intoxication. God was presiding Himself and Prophet (saw) nur was shedding light all around. Now look at what Naem Saab is saying: (Kashmiri) چھ ساقی منز موے خانس وُچھم چوان موےپانس خبر سوے جان جانانس وُچھم چوان موےپانس (Roman script) Chu Saqi menz maikhanus - wuchumm chawan moi panuss, Khabbar soi Jan-i-Jananus - wuchumm chawan moi panuss. English transliteration: Naem saab is exactly in the same state of consciousness (Haal) in which Amir Khusro said his lines. Naem Saab is also present in the place where God himself was the master of ceremonies in that heavenly court.He is also making mention of 'Jan-i-Janan , who knows about it. You should guess who he is indicating. Sufis, whatever their place, language, history, or time, their experiences (mystic revelations and state of consciousness) are almost the same depending on their levels of consciousness. I have no hesitation to say that our mystic poets like Shamas Faqir, Rehaman Dar, Naem Sahib, Souch Kral, Rahim Saab and others are at the same level of mystic experiences as that of Rumi, Shirazi, Amir Khusroo and other greats. How unfortunate we are that we do not know it and nobody explains to us their levels of placement in mystic hierarchies. Not much work has been done on such greats by our Kashmiri scholars. Thanks for uploading this great mystic piece. Mr. Rashid Hafiz, you are doing a great service to Kashmiri language and our mystic heritage. God bless you.
