What I've learnt from this is the angle at which the ball is hit dictates what it will do, this is similar to snooker.

Please tell me what are your ideas about the take back of the racquet before the general swing. Do you believe what matters is all in the general rotational swing and what happens before that is irrelevant? Or do you believe it is also useful to have, what coaches describe, as that whipping or that centrifugal, lagging action that is so famously illustrated in Roger Feder's forehand, for example. Then, of course the racquet lags behind the general rotation of the arm and hand, and then snaps back forward right before striking the ball. It looks like Justine Henin's swing has none of this lagging or whipping going on, but I just may not be able to see it. Thank you.

Hey a little easter egg in Wawrinka's forehand at 10:08, he changes grip in the air! Pretty cool

Difference between striking as opposed to pushing and brushing...... Brilliantly proven striking produces spin as opposed to the thinking that pushing and brushing produces spin. You are exposing the secrets of Roger Federer. Your genius lies in the simplicity of your thoughts on this beautiful game.

The sad thing about tennis, at least in the US, is that many coaches still believe pushing and tell everyone “don’t copy pros, don’t copy Federer “ No wonder no American has been in top 5 for the last 15 years...

Henceforth, I shall only think and speak of shots hit after the bounce as GriundStrikes. Far more accurate than "groundStroke". Thank you for your efforts Vlad.

@@powerflail7832 I think of a strike as a 'moment in time'. I think of a stroke as 'many moments strung together'. To teach someone to 'stroke' implies a long, slow, petting motion with the hand. Teaching to 'strike' makes me think of chopping wood or hitting a baseball. I would never teach a batter to 'stroke' the ball or split my wood with a long slow motion. Both are sharp, violent, thrusts of energy from the torso delivered through a relaxed arm/hand to a tool. Most efficiently executed in a circular, rather than linear motion. Hope this makes sense.

++ monstertrucktennis Oh, it absolutely makes perfect sense! Very well put! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3-4o5uFqdt4qsk Was it me that lead you to that, or have you arrive there on your own? Grasping this basic reality puts everything in order. Things begin making sense and become very simple. In hindsight, though, it is shocking to realize how blatantly misled people are. How a perfectly fraudulent set of ideas, which are completely disconnected from reality and would not stand up to any scrutiny, could be disseminated so widely and take hold of practically everyone. Oy vey, go figure! ;o)

What is a natural motion?
@powerflail78324 жыл бұрын
++ Dane L For the human body the most natural movement would be - Rotation. All (!) parts of your body rotate around some pivot point. Your leg - around the hip joint, your arm - around the shoulder joint, your forearm - around the elbow, your finger digits...etc. Any linear movement which you produce can only be a compound movement - made up of various rotations.
