05 chevy van express 2500 3500 Dies quits bad ground.

I have a 2005 chevy express van 3500
If it dies and you replaced the fuel pump.
Its probably a bad ground strap from the motor to the frame.

I have the same van I was driving and it just died I had it towed home I had a p0300 code multiply cylinder misfire,multiply causes for this code but one was weak fuel pump,spray starting fluid in intake and it started,I thought it was a bad fuel pump but watched multiple youtube video trying and testing them all before buying a pump,your video was spot on bad ground strap I used some jumper cable to connect both ends of the corroded strap and I heard the pump start so I started it up and just had to Thank You for saving me money and my weekend.

I have fixed cranking issues on vehicles with a bad engine ground strap just as this. Many old car and trucks used multiple engine to frame grounds. A lot of newer vehicles only use one. Good work! Thanks for the video.

Thanks for tour comment. So would I just replace ground strap to the battery or is there also a ground strap to the fuse box as this showed on drivers side of engine. Thanks in advance

thank you soooo much for this video. "check yer ground boy" the oldest joke since the model A ford. if the ground strap rusts no electricity can pass thru it. this is called electrolisis. probably just needs a new fuel pump from amazon......

Good info Thanks! Have a 2016 chevy express 3500. Lots of battery issues even with the best AGM combo cranking/deepcycle. 850 CCA battery. I will check all my ground straps 👀👍

Was that it? My 02 Express 3500 occationally goes completely dead, like no battery installed, and comes back normal if I "wiggle stuff". Key in/out, parking brake on/off... Maybe it's the cussing. Weird.

dealers is just parts replace.....they are not the ones who find the problem and fix then........they are money eaters.........my f350 diesel wont start....was a high fuel pump.....dealer want 3.000 to replace it.....i bought the pump $580 and replaced by my self......take me 6 hours take out and put back.. since i never did before and dont have professional tools or computers......my truck runs perfect

Got an 06 Jeep Wrangler had similar issue. Took me a year to figure it out. Positive battery cable was corroded inside, not at the ends, so you couldn't see it.

How do these idiots get away with it ? I would tell them you will only pay dealer net cost for the parts ONLY that you didn't need . No labor . As a means to settle this . Otherwise , sue them in small claims court for the FULL parts and LABOR on the unnessary parts . They should have checked ALL powers and grounds using the voltage drop method . Instead of the ground reading under .5 , a half a volt , it probably had voltage on it due to the bad ground . Good Luck .

I got a 2003 3500 and never had a problem like this. I've had batteries go bad but not this. I've got a 2 year old Interstate battery. This morning turned the key, no signs of life on instrument panel. The only thing that lit up was PRND321 & faintly lit engine light. I tried replacing any fuses to do with ignition plus the starter relay. No good. Next I cleaned of cable terminals at battery and fuse box. No good. Next I hooked up battery charger and set it to engine start. Turned the key and instruments came to life briefly and no start, also hooked up scanner while engine start was cranking juice to the thing. No codes. So I decided my battery cables are shot. While taking a good look at them I saw that puke green corroded braided strap and for the life of me I can't figure out why GM didn't make that a simple insulated cable. I unhooked it from the frame and wired brushed the frame and the eyelet. No good. If I ever get another new vehicle it won't be a GM. Do you know why they made that braided piece of crap strap like that?

Diagnosis 101 -pull the wiring diagrams and first check power and ground to ECM, fusebox etc. Hope you gave the dealership a bill for all the parts cannon stuff.
