Love seeing all that you are enjoying. Sure looks green there. I missed that living in AZ now. 👍🙌💖😀

I've seen people on all sides of the question which chain to use when milling. IMO, each of us needs to experiment a bit and find what chain works best with our saw and the timber we're milling, because you will get people telling you don't waste money on ripping chains and others telling you you cannot mill without them - and both views are based on the experience of the individuals. I can tell you that the pattern on your log is in large part due to the way you were pushing the saw back and forth, swinging the tip forward and then pushing the powerhead side. It's tempting to do that, and sometimes it's fine if you don't care how rough your cut surface is, it can be a little faster than a steady forward pressure with a straight bar 90 degrees to the length of your log - but it makes a mess of your cut. You also want to mill with the sharpest chain you can get. The work is hard on the saw, as well as the sawyer ;)

Thank you. The feedback is valuable. I also think I need to keep my chain a little bit tighter. I am also getting more skilled at sharpening. It's definitely a skill. I've got a much better idea on how to do it properly.

Cross cut for felling, rip for milling ;)

Are you there all by yourself? You look like you are planning to be there for a couple months! 😮
