"If ya don't get the jet centered, the car runs crappy." That's an understatement ;) I had to use a jet centering tool to get the rear HS2 carb centered. No amount of slow adjusting using the needle was working for me. The little tool saved my sanity.

I concur. I think reason tool is preferred over using needle is because I find when tightening the jet shoulder nut, the needle is not sturdy enough to stop the lower part of jet+shoulder from being coersced ever so slightly out of center by the action of tightening. I will buy this tool.

John.. I've been doing this with the dashpot removed and lifting the piston from the top of the carb then putting the pot back on. Is that the wrong approach? (The carbs are still in place. The rear carb would rev but the front is hesitant. Hence why I thought the piston was dragging. I ran the engine with the throttle linkage removed and carbs working independently to discover this..

How come I did eery step exactly the way you said to - including soaking the little cork washers in oil - but my jets are hanging up and sure as hell don't pull out smoothly the way yours are.

On the H2 1970 they have spring loaded needles. the question is there jet packing cork or rubber parts As i have bought new jet bearings for some carbs that I bought used. Did not find any packing in the old jet bearings thanks

It looks like the critical adjustment occurs at around 4:11, but *what are you doing*? Is it a lateral adjustment screw that moves the jet?

great learning tool.

John..is this what is also happening when the lift pins are operated ? ( I certainly can't hear the pistons "clunk" when pushing the lift pins) perhaps it's a different thing altogether 😊

Cork soaking, just like the SNL skit! :) I'm surprised no one has commented this.

You will never get the jet and needle truly concentric that way. Buy or make a jet centering tool and get it right.

Agreed. Read my earlier reply for my rational as to why the tool is best over this method.
