"Germany is disappointed by its allies" may as well be the subtitle for BOTH wars.
@Warmaker015 жыл бұрын
This is only 1940. It's going to get a whole lot worse, even though 1941 will be a bloody mess for the Allies still. Eventually the Allies will get strategic coordination going, something the Axis powers never really will do. Japan never was in a position to do real coordination with her European Axis partners. Mussolini wants to "land grab" with everything looking so bad for Britain right now. There's no unified coordination because the Axis powers are pulling for their own separate agenda.
@basillicus39595 жыл бұрын
It's interesting how at this point in war already it starts to seem like the Germans have overextended themselves and they haven't even invaded USSR yet. They are short on resources compared to the Allies, but their European allies are even more so and are basically waiting for massive handouts from their big brother who isn't so big after all. Bluff and ruthless action worked so far but it will be more difficult from here.
@mjbull51565 жыл бұрын

As a proud and grateful Frenchman, I regularly show my respect and honor the memory of the great Churchill in front of its parisian statue (by the Seine river and the Alexander III bridge) -as I just did last night. The great patriotic leader of a great sovereign country. All the best to you, British comrades, sons and daughters of the great Churchill, still fighting for freedom ! 😉 Vive la Grande-Bretagne libre ! 🇬🇧 Vive la France libre ! 🇫🇷

Italy plays for Germany the same role as Austro Hungarian empire played for Germany in WWI. Germany gave Italy a free hand on the Mediterranean issues in WWII, as Germany had given a free hand to the AH empire on the Balkan issues in WWI. You may guess the results in both cases....

I can say a lot of bad things about Francisco Franco, but I have to admit that he was clever when he avoided joining the Axis during World War 2. 1. Spain would be exposed to British and American attacks along its long coast lines. 2. Spain was dependent on British and American resources. 3. After 3 years of civil war during which 500.000-2.000.000 people died Spain needed to recover before it could get involved in any new conflicts on a large scale.

It's a shame Mussolini didn't do the same, Italy was in a similar condition
@perfectlybalancedasallthin93195 жыл бұрын
@@brainyskeletonofdoom7824 It's actually a good thing that Italy did join. They did more to harm to Germany by being their ally than just staying neutral. Because of Italy, Hitler had to waste resources and a good general in North Africa, had to fix the problems with Greece and Yugoslavia thanks to Mussolini's shenanigans.

Franco had a front-row seat at the premier of 'modern warfare'. Certainly had his fill of it no doubt. Then he sees Germany not exactly able to get the British out of the war through the same air power which won him his civil war. The British and the Royal Navy were downright scary actually.

@Valentin Georgiev And Turkey threatened to join the Greeks, if Bulgaria even moved troops towards the Bulgarian-Greek border. In March 4, 1941, von Papen came to an agreement with Inonu, thus nutralizing Turkish "threat". Because of this agreement The Greco-Turkish border was held by the Germans instead of the Bulgarians during the whole occupation of Greece.

There are Brits still who think the radar was a British innovation only.
@thealexanderbond5 жыл бұрын
No there aren't. Literally everyone in the UK knows that Radar, like many complex inventions, is a combination of parts which were developed over many decades and incrementally improved by many different people. The reason the UK is heavily associated with Radar in WWII is because they made a giant leap with the cavity magnetron, vastly improving it and making radar units small, portable and with much finer resolution. We learn that in preschool.
@dylanb29905 жыл бұрын
Alexander Bond yes there are. Imagine being so naive you think every single person in the UK has identical knowledge on the subject of radar in ww2.
