My name is Sam and together with my girlfriend Lyanne, I am on a quest to restore the beauty of this old Italian villa from 1895. Join us as we have to let go of our Dutch habits to fit in in our Italian surroundings, were the word 'plan' gets redefined and our tastebuds are awakened.
The goal of this project is to show that with limited financial means and a lot of optimism we can resurrect the beauty of this abandoned villa in a green and sustainable way. But most of all learn from everything that we encounter and enjoy it whilst we're at it.

Shop vac would be really helpful!😮 Also, mice can flatten their bodies down to 1/4 inch and can eat through foam. What works well is steel wool and 1/4 in. X 1/4 in metal mesh. Love your videos, great job! 👍

You certainly don’t need a stairmaster to get your exercise every day, lol. 😅 Glad to see the plumbing is coming along, that was a terrible rats nest of complicated piping. Hopefully, you will be able to cover it all up and forget about it from now on. And I don’t comment on many of your videos, but I just want to say what a beautiful place you have and it’s worth all the headaches. Between the windows and the shutters and the floors and the arched ceilings, and let’s not forget about the view! Once you get everything fixed, it’ll just be a distant, painful memory, kind of like I imagine childbirth would be!😂

I wonder if an air compressor would be the ticket to clean out the mice works around the shutters. Lots of power , would work so well for any nooks and crannies, plus it would be a lot easier than scraping. Best wishes

Hallo jongeman, ik merkte op dat je zei dat de opstelling op het raam, met zorg gemaakt door je vader, tijdelijk was. Wat mij betreft, zijn er twee dingen die in me opkomen. Ten eerste je goede mening over het raamsysteem en de bijbehorende luiken, die ik ook deel, en ten tweede, als het aan mij lag en ik had een raam dat door mijn vader was gerepareerd, dan zou dat raam hoe dan ook heilig zijn en nooit verandering ondergaan. Blijf doorgaan met dit prachtige renovatiewerk en veel geluk!

Sam can I suggest you don’t cover up the holes and create a cover box which can be simply unscrewed to allow future access for repairs, new lines and other services in the future, like power etc etc, like a riser for the Villa as apartments have, then use sand bags to block the floor holes to stop air flow and rats.

What a project you've got on your hands! But your progress is going steady. Good that you have water now. Will you update us als more on the power situation? And I missed the well in the hills or didn't you film this yet? Anyway, don't forget to run some CAT7 cabling, might be handy for WiFi AP's later! And also really interested in your solar panels. For all those spots with missing tiles, a suggestion would be to level off with cement then paint to appear like tile. The area is small and out of the way a painted “faux” tile should blend in.

de oppervlakken die zijn aangetast door schimmel (zwart grijs), en die ik opmerkte in deze video, deze kan je behandelen met azijn, milieuvriendelijker en effectiever dan bleek op langere termijn. je kan het besproeien, of op de oppervlak wrijven (wel opletten voor kalkhoudend gesteente zoals marmer, daar hou je zuren weg van)
