NORTH YORK MOORS WALK FEATURING DANBY, AINTHORPE RIGG AND LITTLE FRYUP DALE
"Dale of Danby”
Filmed 5th October 2016
Post-production completed 15th January 2017
I travel to the village of Danby to enjoy another walk in the North York Moors. It is a very windy day, so the walk proves to be a little challenging at times, especially when crossing the bleak Ainthorpe Rigg. However, the scenery more than compensates for that, which gets better and better as I descend into the quiet and dramatic Little Fryup Dale…..
Filmed in the North York Moors in the county of North Yorkshire. Locations include Danby, the Moors National Park Centre, Ainthorpe, Ainthorpe Rigg, Little Fryup Dale, Danby Castle and Duck Bridge.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

"The Solitary Rambler" is my series of amateur films of my journeys in the countryside accompanied by my own musical scores, which I compose and perform on my Yamaha keyboard.
Please note that, as with all the films I make, this is not actually intended to be an extensive guide to the area. This is a mini-movie of my personal journey along the walk, in which I often share some of my own personal stories.
If you are new to my channel, I strongly recommend reading the description under the “about” tab, which will provide a clearer understanding of what to expect in my films: / solitaryrambler
There is also a short “Introduction to the Solitary Rambler” video, which briefly explains what my films are all about: / solitaryrambler

It was great to see the sheep grazing in the village green at Danby, Patrick. The villages on your route seemed to be nice and quiet and set in lovely rural countryside. The views across Little Fryup Dale are really gorgeous. Danby Castle although in ruins is a remarkable building in itself, and incorporating the farm, too. A most enjoyable video, Patrick. Thank you and all the best.

Thank you so much Patrick for all of your efforts in making these wonderful walking videos. Your relaxed presentation style and musical accompaniments are the perfect backdrop for the different journeys you bring us on, and your love for the countryside is also very obvious. Yorkshire must be one of the most beautiful places in the world, there is something utterly magical about the landscape and the feelings it evokes.

Someone's bound to make a fry up gag at some point Frank!! And let me tell you that my coat blew away, it was that flippin' windy!! :-D :-D Certainly wasn't cold that day though, just slightly breezy! One little secret I should share with you.......... Bob, the sound man, and any other credited people.......... well they're all actually me. I just use pseudonyms in some cases so that it's not my own name shown all the time for absolutely everything and to vary the look of the end credits. These videos are all my own work, no-one else is involved at all. The very earliest films involved a few other friends of mine, but those videos were made many years ago and are nothing like the films I make now. Thanks again for continuing to watch Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)

Hope you had a big Fry up with your cup of tea Patrick. What a lovely walk and a lovely area, loved the Duck bridge, and fancy having a 14th C castle there as if it's just part of the farm,Katherine Parr must have thought twice about leaving that lovely area to marry Henry, especially with his track record by then with his previous five wives. Brilliant film in every way Patrack, your standards never drop below Superb. Thanks for making and sharing. Pete.

Absolutely loving that 'Duck Bridge' Patrick. It typifies bridges of that era - what a time in the area that must have been. Getting there was wonderful. It was a real walkers delight with just enough going on and a bit of solitude if you want it on top. The view from up there of Fryup was spectacular. Another enjoyable video Patrick. I like going back! Take care my friend. Mark

Hi Mark, great name for a bridge isn't it?! :) It was real solitude this walk, which I did just over two years ago now. The North York Moors offers a very different kind of landscape, but still a lovely area. Like you say, the view over Fryup was indeed spectacular. Glad you enjoyed this one Mark and thanks for giving this one a watch. All the best. Cheers, Patrick :)

@@solitaryrambler Needed to point out that Duck Bridge was named after George Duck, who reconstructed this ancient bridge in about 1700 in order to get from one side of his farm to the other. He was my 7th great-grandfather. Lovely place.
