Welcome back everyone to another video. In this video I do a reallllly long and detailed review on how to use the HUK 3 pc. Tubular lock pick set. I think this is honestly one of the best tubular lock picks out there for the price. There are nicer ones but for the price this one is a steal. I have not had any problems with this not working. The only down side is that after you pick the lock you can not tighten the picks in place and re use the pick it self as the key over and over like some of there other versions of the tool, but that is the only complaint I have about this tool. I wanted to do a detailed review about this tools especially because I have not seen a review going over the changes HUK made in the design in the tool which they no longer provide in the newer kits. For the price this is a great tool to start with. I am giving one brand new kit away along with a sparrows special tubular tension wrench for single pin picking. Hopefully this video even tho it is long, helps any of you guys out there who may have been confused by this tool or maybe you had the new version and were wondering why it did not have the tension rods. I try to be as detailed as possible. There are alot of shorter videos out there on this tool which all do an excellent job going over this tool also. Thanks for watching. Please hit that subscribe button and I will see you guys in the next video.

Those two inner o-rings are for gripping the picks. Due to the design of the tool, the outter o-rings cannot grip the picks very well. The picks are recessed into slots/tracks to keep them in the right place. So the outter o-rings can only grip them just barely cuz when the pick is in the slot, it makes the tube/body flush with the picks. So they put the inner bands to put tension on the other side of the picks So the tool can be the right tension to self impression and work as designed.

Excellent demo. I purchased the set and did not know how to use it. Very informative and down to earth explanation of each piece. Great set which makes the repining very straight forward rather than the bumble around method I used to use. Thanks,

The guy who invented the HPC "Peanut" tubular self-impressioning tool did so with a very specific technique in mind. On the cheaper locks, the old 'wiggle to open' self-impressions just fine but when you get onto some of the better tubular locks (ACE II), they are designed specifically to stop the 'wiggle to open' self-impressioning technique. So this wonderful tool has been copied and used for decades and very few people know how it was supposed to be originally used! When utilised as intended, the tool is fully capable of self-impressioning ACE II and similar, the ones who specifically are supposed to scupper the tool. Anyway, I have designed an improved tubular self-impressioning tool, it simplifies the 'proper' (in inverted commas because whatever works is proper) technique and makes self-impressioning even difficult tubular locks child's play.

@derekmcclemens3901 7 жыл бұрын
I have an ace lock that will not allow this technique to work on it now that makes sense after reading your comment.

huxleypig69 What pick are you speaking of that you use for ACE II locks?
@huxleypig69
@huxleypig69 7 жыл бұрын
To pick ACE II SPP - Firstly, I modified my Tubular pick with grub screws to lock each tine in place. But SPP'ing is still a rotten experience, the tines jab in your finger and it isn't much fun. So I now SPP using a tool that is designed just to SPP. The pick arms are short (about 1") and have nice big feelers on the tops of them, and again, each one has its own grubscrew so you only have to pick the lock once. To pick ACE II self-impression - this tool is a take on the standard 7 pin tubular pick we see everywhere, it just has a couple of extras to overcome the anti-impression defences many tubular locks employ now.

That tool CAN actually be locked in place after picking. THAT is what the blue tube with Allen screw is for. After picking you can tighten it, keeping pins in place...
@derekmcclemens3901
@derekmcclemens3901 Жыл бұрын
That is correct! Be careful tho when tightening the Allen nuts as they strip very easily and I have one screw that is jammed down into one of the picking pins and I’ve been trying for years to get it out (untightened) etc.

The tensioning rods are simply not required. Their removal allows for tensioning locks that have no notch in the centre-post to drive the lock. However, I think it is nicer to have the option of having it or not and removing it if necessary, like the Southord one allows.
@derekmcclemens3901
@derekmcclemens3901 7 жыл бұрын
I know they are not required. At first I did not notice any difference but then after trying them both I found that I got a slightly faster time on tubular locks that had the notch where the tension rod could be used but it wasn't any thing spectacular time wise. Like you said I just like having the option to use it or not if I want to.

Thank you for explaining this to me. So you're saying that modern tubular locks can be opened without a tension rod right? I got a Huk tubular pick set & the yellow one has the hole for a tension rod. The other 2 have no hole. They also didn't even include the rod for the 1 that has the hole.

I just picked up the huk lock pick set from a friend. It is the older version without the year in the corner and more obviously it has the tension rod hole inside but unfortunately my set did not come with baggie of tension rods. Just the three tools, two wrenches ,spare rubber grommets and one extra pick. My question is am I able to use the older model without the tension rods. I would assume so but I would like to ask someone with a lot more experience than I. This video is pretty old. I hope my question reaches you.

i am supposing, theoretically.. a tubular key could be made with a piece of tin can metal.. You just need to space the notches on the edge of the tin to the correct depth. It might not be as durable as a tubular blank that has a notch ground out of it for each pin. but with a notch guide. it could be cut in a flat position.. I am guessing it may even be possible to 3D print a tubular key with a template.. then just feed it the correct mm depths for each notch?

You kind of ramble at times as well as repeating yourself and especially quite a bit of stammering (you should probably know the name of mostly everything you're making a video about, such as names), I would suggest a pop filter for your microphone and/or the pitch turned down. Other than those things I just mentioned I was able to understand mostly everything you were trying to show the viewers. Please don't take this as hate or someone just giving you $hit. I'm genuinely trying to help you since you're a smaller channel. I am assuming you're trying to grow your channel so this is just here for help. The tension rods in my set came too long and needed grinding down so they sit flush with the circular face of the tool. If this isn't done the tool wont go into the body of the lock far enough. Also the grub screw that holds the rod is fragile so use the short end of the allen key to tighten

@@vonkanon3091 This can do it, but you'll have to check that the tension rods are removable if they are installed. The smaller ones to me look like they're also to put tension on the pins so it's pushing on them from both sides

What other tubular lock picks do you own? These are the only ones I haven't had....i love the HPC one definitely way better than any out there... Southord is 2nd and the one by HIROSHI I believe it is...also have had the GOSO ones and the KLOM ...but HPC....yeah they are the shit! Can open up ACE 2 locks with mine.

So far this is the only kit that I have. I want to get the south ord here soon and the klom and goso just to have them and compare them. I am also going to buy the high end one ( cant think of the name right now) but it can be converted into 7/8/10 pin depending on what you need. I am not surprised that the HPC I had something from them in the past that was not good quality at all. Thanks for the input tho I am going to order the other ones soon.

Derek McClemens I believe you are talking about the peterson pro-1 but from what I understand they stopped making it because it cost so much to make that selling it for a couple hundred dollars isnt cost effective... I hope im wrong but if you can find one its gonna cost as much as 10+ huk kits... once again I hope im just misinformed... but yeah peterson pro-1. great tool!

Phred Phlintstoner ....No I'm not talking about the Peterson pro.... I have known for a while about it not coming out....anyway...Trust me! I've hade/have just about every tubular lock pick there is except for a few high priced V lock cam style and octagon shaped ones...and The HPC tlp-model c....is the shit!Southord is also good (still not close to HPC)..Caution when buying the GOSO ones...they come in 3 sizes 7.0 7.5 and 7.8 like all ones I've seen but the ones I had would not fit into any standard 7 pin lock...all 3 were too small... the same thing happened with the KLOM one I have also.

Phat_Boy 412 no I wasnt referring to your comment. sorry.lol. derrek said that he wanted the adjustable tool that you can make 7 or 8 or 10 pin. Im assuming he meant the pro-1. but am I understanding you correctly that peterson has discontinued it?

That Cobra tubular is so close to being very good but sadly they left too much room. Camlock Systems make a range of tubular locks with an octagonal post and they are very effective at keeping the tubular picks out of the keyway.

Yes even with upgrading from the tubular to medeco they did not do the greatest job with the universal t handle because my medeco did not fit in the hole the designed for it to begin with and after modifying the hole for the abloy I notice that the medeco can still be exposed. They had a good idea tho.
