Thank you. I wasn't sure where that little metal "ear" went. One thing I do that you didn't is to coat the face of the diff. with anti-seize. The next time the gasket comes off clean with the cover.

I spray the gears and housing with brake cleaner and let it drain. Then wipe any excess and let it air dry. Everything comes out super clean. Also on mine there was a magnet glued to the bottom of the case which needed cleaning.

Would it be fine to do that ? Would that cause problems in the future?
@Reyreycookie2 ай бұрын
I will do the same thing, I mean for a very clean job, now after using any cleaning product for the gear I will definitely wait until gets dry, then put new fresh oil on it. You may want to clean those tiny little metals that you don’t see it inside. Good luck 👍

I did my differential today that grey stuff looks like break in grease like I used to build a motor once along time ago.

So you jus added fluid until i started to leak out, about 2 bottles plus a little more?

Where did you get that chocolate pice of the differential that you were scrubbing off

2 questions....why do you remove the fill plug first when very little, if anything will drain out. Why do you spray brake cleaner on the cover BEFORE you take the fill plug and the cover off, when fluid will get on the cover from taking either of those two off?
@Oksobasically23 жыл бұрын
1: removing the fill plug first is easier when the cover is still attached because if you wanna let it drain out controlled by removing a few bolts it drains faster/smoother 2: spraying the thing down with brake clean keeps foreign dirt/dust out of the diff and helps the socket find better purchase on bolts without dust/dirt in the way
@brandonleland9963 жыл бұрын
Also would suck to drain it and not be able to get that plug out which is also your fill plug. Always check fill plug first

I have an 07 Z71 4x4 with the Vortec Max 6.0L and dont know the size ring gear in it. Does the 10 bolt rear diff and the 14 bolt denote the ring gear size? Fantastic video too!!!
@colbykennedy9979 Жыл бұрын
If it’s a 10 bolt it’s usually the 8.5 in ring gear 14 bolt is the 9.5
