Love these. I'm in Texas and literally was planning a roadtrip for next year with a stop at this speedway, and just read that it is closing for good at the end of the '23 season. Super bummed about that, and wish I was in the area to take it in before it is gone. Texas still has a few (not many) great dirt tracks left, but nothing I am aware of that is as entertaining as Spectator Drags. Yeah I live 20 minutes from the F1 track. Like I said, nothing as entertaining as Spectator Drags :-) But if anyone has alternate suggestions where I can view this type of thing in person, I'm all ears.

Not sure how extensively you travel but here are a few. Oxford Plains Speedway, SEEKONK SPEEDWAY, Freedom Factory.

@@jedhunter73 Thank you, I really appreciate the response. I think the Seekonk Speedway in particular I have watched some great spectator drag type videos. I have put all of those you mentioned on my official Google maps "to be visited" list, so hopefully those will be around AND I will be around in the future to catch some action in-person. Seems like a missed opportunity in Texas, although not only circle tracks but drag strips have mostly disappeared in the last 20 years.

@@AustinApologue I will add, I have noticed many of the drivers at the other tracks seem to be more or less Semi-Pro spectator drag racers vs Rockford Speedway they appear to be true "spectator" drivers

Rooting for those Cobalts wherever I see em. Wonder if it was a turbo with the launch control if it would have done better the 3rd run. Supercharged ones seem to lose a lot of time on launch and then gain it back. Turbos with launch control enabled hold the rpms just under rev limiter with 3 psi boost and have the no lift shift feature maintaining boost throughout the run if shifted on time quickly.

Launch control definitely would help, the cobalt is not even a lsd, it’s open diff

I believe the Cobalt is the older Supercharged version.

looks like the cobalt SS lost its 2nd gear for that last race. he had to go from 1st to 3rd and that would explain what happened in the race prior.

i dont think thats a genuine ss cobalt. the badge is a little too high mine is lower. probally droped a sc in it and called it a day. (edit: turns out the 05 model is like that)

They come supercharged stock lol, it's a 05 cobalt SS
