Bobby Bowden, former football coach for Florida State University, told the story of playing baseball when he was in college. He hit a ball right down the line into the right field corner and managed to get what he thought was an inside the park home run. But after he touched home & was celebrating, the pitcher threw the ball to first and the umpire called him out. Bowden had failed to touch first base. Bowden later applied that lesson to his personal life as well as his life in Christ. He said, “If you don’t take care of first base, it doesn’t matter what you do from there. If you don’t honor the Lord first, it doesn’t matter what else you do.” Join us today as we look at the issue of “We Can’t Improve, We Can Only Follow” as we continue our series “We Are The Church.”
