In this video we take a look at how to assemble our 08 webbing in two different styles. Firstly we look at how it should look in 1914, and then we take a look at how to fit it for life in the trenches and the first day of the Somme.

I'm guessing What Price Glory date items like SBR bags and Wire Cutter frogs 1914 to make it obvious they're reproductions. There are some other suppliers who do correct WW2 dates, but with incorrect manufacturer stamps, same reason. Look the part until close inspection... Canteen, yes, e tool head yes, the helves leave a bit to be desired though. As for bayonets it's always better buying an original. If you live in the UK, Chelmsford militaria just took shipment of 900 originals, so go for them. :)

Don't buy a sof one they're like most things they sell bad and not worth the money. Get a dicky knight or Pegasus militaria one, they're the correct size, they've got the correct poppers unlike the fake newey press studs sof use and have decent whip chord attached.
@TwoMikesProductions

@@cosmorogers9617 Chances of you actually getting a Pegasus or Dickie Knight ones are low. Very low. The turnaround time is incredibly long and the Americans need the stuff much more regularly than in the UK.

Was the haversack always intended to go on the back at some point as I noticed it has pre set straps for the buckles on the straps and buckles for the straps, or did they have another purpose, or did it originally not have them and it was changed?
@TwoMikesProductions
@TwoMikesProductions 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah its definitely built with adjustments in mind. Bear in mind in 1908 its a peace time army so they can afford time to spend on tiny detail and minutiae, whereas in 1914 everything has to change and all the tiny fiddly bits go out of the window.

You need a custom fitted job then. If you are in the UK, Richard Knight will do a good one, if you are in the US then head to Joe Blunt in Florida. Both will be expensive , but the quality will be excellent. The material for it is called Hainsworth Whipcord. Good luck!

Idiosyncrasies of working upside down, trying to reverse yourself to the canera. When you strip kit apart and put it back together backwards and upside down it took us multiple takes. Stuff gets through that we didn't even notice. If you get a chance it might be worth you doing a video as well. More the merrier.

@@donkeyslappedyoshi609 Okay, first thing you need to do is get the carrier wet and spend an hour in front of the TV stretching it as best you can in every direction. The WPG bottles can have really thick coverings. Next thing is to get an old straight razor or bic razor blade and shave the wool down as best as possible. If that fails, then grab a new carrier from WPG and that *should* fit it. The Lawrence Ordnance stuff is really good, but can sometimes be troublesome with other brands. Let me know how it goes!
