การละเล่น "รำวง" เผยแพร่ไปจากภาคกลางของไทยไปสู่เชียงตุงและรัฐฉานตะวันออกผ่านทางล้านนามาก่อนบ้างแล้ว แต่มานิยมมากขึ้นในช่วงสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 ที่ไทยขึ้นไปปกครองรัฐฉานตะวันออก มีทหารและข้าราชการไทยจำนวนมากได้ย้ายขึ้นไปประจำการ ได้นำเอาการรำวงไปเล่น และเผยแพร่สู่ชาวไตด้วยครับ
