The song is sung very well indeed and Sonwabo is gifted, no doubt. He has his own special style which keeps the listener in suspense as to what may pop-up. My suggestion to him is to study carefully the perfomance of the late Jessy Dixon online. Dixon was a pastor-singer and so blended that you get a sermon as well as the song or a song as well as a sermon. The way his modus operandi work is that he started singing pretended to be an unbelieving sinner that through the words discover Christ, and with a great crescendo or climax are saved. He stop normally the song in the first part (I) with the music dying down and him doing a private prayer to God of thanksgiving. Then softly the music begins the second round of Part II, with the audience singing the words and Jesse just filling in gaps and nuances. But, pastor Jesse comes to the fore. He is now in Part II making appeals with the words, however not too offroad and not too long. It does not interfere with the audience response and singing. Lastly the audience is singing the loudest with pastor Jesse just encouraging them with "how many of you know that .....[words from the song] while they sing the actual words. The endresult is that what started out as a song ended with a homiletical application among the audience and what was pastor Jesse's became the content in the hearts and lips of the audience. They preach so to speak to pastor Jesse. When this happen, pastor Jesse has fulfilled his ministerial role as singer. For him it is a drama and he has to play the part but not for himself, not to get the clap from the audience for his own ego enrichment, but a success of leading others to Christ in a large scale, a gift that only he in that whole group of Gaither singers talent could do. I have never seen anyone mastering what Jesse did in that group before or after him. If Sonwabo can dig deep into this ministerial style of singing, he may rub off on others the Christ in him that compels him to sing and speak and talk and encourage and lead others to higher grounds!
