091824 American Legion Post 22 Founder

The American Legion Post 22 in Pahrump was on a mission to find out more about it's namesake, Edward McDaniel. It turns out McDaniel started the organization in Pahrump after getting frustrated with driving into Las Vegas and decided Pahrump needed it's own post. McDaniel only lived in Pahrump for 5 years before he passed away, though he owned a piece of property here for years purchasing the acre for $500. His wife remarried after Edward passed away to James Wheeler. Jacqueline is buried next to Edward in the Chief Tecopa Cemetery in Pahrump. On McDaniel's 99th birthday the American Legion Post 22 got together with supporters to celebrate their founder and plan for the 100th birthday party next year!
