I think there's also a trend to move away from the old operating model of "whenever and however" when it comes to the client relationship. More and more, firms are putting in healthy boundaries to control their workflow and client expectations.

I used to think you were kinda supposed to handle IRS notices for your clients until I saw some folks having it as a separate service package on websites.

Do you think things are changing or are we just more dialed into an echo chamber?

@@JasonOnFirmsPodcast I wonder what other people’s opinions are… bc I talk about some of these ideas to current partners or higher ups at other firms and they disagree a lot of times, but their practice isn’t livable or sustainable so I don’t think they are the right side to listen to… it feels like the 4 hour work week ideas are finally coming into accounting

@@JasonOnFirmsPodcast Good point, hopefully a bit of actual change but probably some echoing. I feel like I've heard of other firms making the move to more sustainable workload (there was an AICPA small firm podcast on it recently). Perkins in PDX is promoting their work/life balance recently. But at my last small firm we had requested drop-off deadlines but nothing explicit. And depending on the CPA, clients could get what they wanted.
