Sebastiaan Buwalda I feel like that is definitely justified when you think about the situation, against dialga, your fighting to save everyone and you've prepared for it. With palkia, he comes into your home seemingly at random, kidnaps you, and is trying to kill you before you even have the chance to realise whats going on, your fighting something wich is (lore wise) just as powerful as dialga, but there's no overarching reason to fight besides self-preservation.

The contrast between Dialga and Palkia's themes is incredible. Dialga's Fight to The Finish is a triumphant track that also brings in resolve, reflecting and even some sadness. Palkia's Onslaught in the other hand, is just pure dread.

You would expect Dialga and Palkia to have the same theme, or at least equally "epic and cool" sounding themes. But the musicians behind this game instead decided to make each song focus on the themes of your journey at that point. Dialga had gone mad, but was ultimately saveable, and though you have to fight, and you suspect/know it will erase the future, its a sacrifice you're willing to make to make a better world. The stakes are epic, and you are the heroes who can make a better world and save Dialga. But Palkia? Palkia is fully cogniscent of everything they're doing. Sure, we find out they were tricked, but everything they do here is intently calculated and executed well. You are no longer considered heroes trying to save the world: you are now the roadblocks to the future of the world. You are fighting for survival against an enraged yet calculated creature with almost godlike powers, and you aren't sure yet if his attack is justified or not. Unlike Dialga, is it really right for us to give it our all? Or do we deserve to be executed by the keeper of space? All that moral quandary is suppressed by this theme: quick paced, intense, an adrenaline filled fight fueled by the animalistic instinct to survive. Sure, you can gimmick almost any fight from a gameplay perspective, but from a narrative perspective, you are fighting for your life, against the most sane and powerful executioner you've ever faced. I love how this game uses its music to give immersion.

You know, hearing your put it that way makes me realize that this part of the story really puts you in dusknoir’s gloves. (I’d say his shoes, but he doesn’t have feet) Dusknoir was also fighting for his life against the greater good. Imagine if Darkrai wasn’t lying and you actually had to sacrifice yourself like Grovyle did for the good of the world. Now THAT would be traumatizing. Just how I like my Pokémon games!

​@@Ledyba165 For me (Cyndaquil) it was the exact opposite. Sure, my partner's a Shinx, but by Arceus Himself, he wouldn't use Thunder Fang, ever. Had to rely on a Blinker Seed (blindness) and then an X-Eye Seed (hallucinations) just to barely kill it. In contrast, Dialga was, like. Sleep Seed, Flamethrower spam, dead.

i know your pain, the same thing happened to me on one of my playthroughs, if you are prepared the dungeon/boss is easy, but i forgot this was coming and didnt have any reviver seeds, hunger seeds or sleep seeds. I got stuck in a death loop in the dungeon unable to progress for ages
