1.0: Rewards very poorly, lava only often appears in a couple or few spots, do not play this if you seek casual rewards unless if you are making a pvp battleground or you just want wins while not focusing on the game much, you should use hardcore + randomizer to boost the rewards as even that is easy, homing missiles are rare, the low amount of bomb spawns often results in less unique scenarios making surviving even more easy, player specific threats are very uncommon, hazard risk is very low 2.0: Rewards are still too low and only somewhat better than previously, I would still avoid this for casual play as rewards are still too low for that, again, play hardcore + randomizer to boost the rewards, more player specific threats are now common, lava is only very slightly more exposed than the previous difficulty, homing missiles are still rare, but are more common. More deadlier versions of bombs are more common, hazard risk is still quite low 3.0: Rewards are fair (not impressive), but rewards are great for casual play, you may still be comfortable with hardcore + randomizer as lava still isn't too common thanks to obsidian being there tanking explosions (will easily be destroyed by anything as destructive as a nuke or falling mechanical spike drill), player specific threats are also yet again more common, the spawning of nukes around 1-2 times in 1 game are common now (still easy to avoid), homing missiles sometimes appears in 1 game, more deadlier versions of bombs are yet again more common, hazard risk is generally low, destroyers are rare 4.0: Rewards are very good, good if you want to bump up the challenge by a fair chunk, you want to learn what bombs do what and the ability to track multiple hazards at once to ensure surviving, Nukes often spawn at the start of the game now and throughout, grimbells begin to make an appearance and will do so occasionally (their insta-kill radius is small), destroyers now sometimes appears (they are similar to nuke multi-explosions), it is recommended that you use non-hardcore, but if you use hardcore, it is recommended to avoid randomizer (best loadouts recommended to prevent unlucky scenarios that happen once in awhile), now lava often appears due to the rate of bomb drops being increased significantly and the destructive force they often put out, homing missiles are common now, the risk is medium-high, player based hazards are also now even more common due to homing missiles being common and the high drop rate of bombs 5.0: Rewards greatly, it is the highest difficulty on a standard scale, it is the maximum reasonable difficulty and the best difficulty to grind in solo and multiplayer in (solo is better), you must have the ability to know what bombs do what, make estimates when they will detonate all while tracking multiple hazards at once, bigger homing missiles, bigger grimbells are introduced and are now common, giant nuke, giant destroyer, and glitch nuke are now possible but are very rare, previously common and weaker versions of bombs are now even rarer, the bombs are now bigger and meaner in general, bomb drop rates have gone up even more, the environment has now been mostly destroyed and lava appears on most of the ground level at end game, far fewer high places to go, avoid playing hardcore mode, best loadouts recommended (using randomizer doesn't help the rewards much and may ironically reduce rewards), the risk is fairly high, before a match begins, it makes a unique sound exclusive to 5.0, even with all of this, if you play your cards right and not use hardcore mode, you'll win the vast majority of your games, homing missiles magnetizing other bombs sometimes happens, player based hazards are roughly as rare as 4.0, but are more deadly 6.0: Rewards are the highest (but usually not because you don't win consistently in this difficulty which cuts rewards significantly, avoid playing for the purpose of rewards), only accessible in super intense servers or private servers through the game server console, makes a unique sound before the match starts having a 'siren' noise, the most hardened players will lose most rounds on their own no matter the loadout, multiplayer is highly recommended to increase survival chances, wings will almost certainly result in death now (DO NOT USE THEM), homing missile magnetizing other bombs is now very common, glitch nukes, giant nukes, and giant destroyers are now common, do not use hardcore or randomizer, use the best loadout possible (it is far more critical now), supporting your team with support skills is now mostly useless, bomb drop rates gone up to an extreme degree, the game has been nearly completely destroyed (very few obsidian and flying non-obsidian part layers will usually remain), lava is usually nearly completely visible on ground level, either almost none or no place to go to, forcefield skill is a must as there are too many hazards with near-insta kill potentials, good luck will be very important for your survival, player based hazards are far more common than previously, homing missiles can carry electric shocks, small destroyers, trip pulses, anti-gravity pulse (disables jumping), and various other bombs and status effect hazards not mentioned, the grimbell range and how often it will appear has been extended to a massive degree, when you enable 6.0, the server difficulty pointer moves to 5.0, but just immediately after you are about to load in the match, you will see that it goes to 6.0 for a brief moment and the pointer goes completely away from the difficulty display chart

It's almost as if that sound is there to mock players for playing on that difficulty.
