Thanks for this series it's given me the confidence to start my own conversion on a much smaller scale. A perfectly good 2 stroke has come out of my trials bike and a motor is going in.

Ah good to see all this again. I think I have a soft spot for oil, dirt and fluids. Will pass on the info that there is a diesel 1.7 engine for sale to all concerned. Keep going and thanks.

Can’t wait for next video, weight of engine and associated bits never taken into account when comparing with ev don’t forget fuel tank and that liquid called diesel, petrol, gas for the USA viewers, + radiator fluid ,all have extra weight not in many ev . Interesting if you could weigh the other bits exhaust etc that you took out

Are you going to strip out the old fuel tank, and the old heat shielding from the exhaust to save weight?

Done!

Great progress, keep it up. Any issues with getting this thing NCTd afterwards?

That has been covered in past videos and more than likely be featured in a future video in this series.

Hi Damien I am converting my car to electricity, im down here in Cork, where can i get a good motor in Ireland any recommendations?
@Evbmw6 жыл бұрын
I would contact every business you can find that deals in forklifts. Most will not bother to reply but you only need one. Thats how I got my motors.

I forgot about parting out to recoup budget moola! Maybe that stank driver chair is worth something? ? :) . Excellent progress.

Good stuff Damien 👍 I suspect that the battery pack and motor will far outweigh the engine and fuel tank and there will be a net gain in weight . I think that old air conditioning units may be another cheap source of IGBT's , I'll have a look at some old units as they have very substantial heat sinks fitted . Best of luck with the build and budget.
