One thing worth noting with Tarrian's Journal is that _flipping it_ is instant speed. So if you draw a second copy, you can cast the new one and then flip the old one in response, circumventing the legend rule. Now, I use them to track massive numbers of counters for Pir & Toothy decks, or P/T of people's Jodah or Ashaya, or crazy amounts of mana in the pool. @@ianford9221 That does not get the first time counter on The Mellenium Calendar. Also you can not untap and tap Basalt monoloth during your untap step as you don't have prio as stated in the video. The untap step is the first step of the beginning phase. The following events happen during the untap step, in order: All permanents with phasing controlled by the active player phase out, and all phased-out permanents that were controlled by the active player simultaneously phase in. Note the timing which means tapped permanents phasing in will almost immediately get to untap. If the day and night cycle has started, the number of spells cast in the previous turn is checked, and if the appropriate conditions are met, day turns to night or night turns to day, including the transformation of Daybound and Nightbound permanents. The active player determines which permanents controlled by that player untap, then untaps all those permanents simultaneously. (The player will untap all permanents they control unless a card effect prevents this.) No player receives priority during this step so spells or abilities cannot be played. Any state-based effects or triggered abilities that happen during this step are delayed until the upkeep step.

Vorinclex/Doubling Season and similar should mean you only end up with 3x the number of counters on Calendar, if I'm not mistaken. When the ability is resolving, it's going to put X counters on the Calendar, where X is the number of counters already on it (as the ability resolves). Vorinclex/Doubling Season would make that 2X instead, so after resolution you end up with X+2X, or 3X. If you have out two Doubling Season effects it gets even wonkier, as you end up with X+4X for 5X.

12:02 My initial back-of-the-napkin calculation was that this should take 6 turns, not 9. But I was wrong (math below). Of course, just adding permanents to the board (esp early) speeds up the clock considerably. And any increase of time counters, counters, activated abilities, or untapping the Calendar will speed things quickly, too. Ok, the math: T1: Play land, cast Calendar -> 0 counters T2: Untap land, getting 1 counter. Play land, tap 2 lands and Calendar, doubling counters. -> 4 counters T3: Untap 3 permanents (2 lands + Calendar), getting 3 counters (up to 10). Tap 3 lands and Calendar, doubling counters. -> 20... Note that, starting this turn, there will always be extra lands tapped. I'm just doing that to get the untap triggers for maximum effect, but in a real game, this would mean that you would have leftover mana for interaction and protection. T4: Untap 4 permanents, adding 4 counters (up to 24). Play land. Tap 4 lands and Calander, doubling counters. -> 48 counters T5: Untap 5 permanents, adding 5 counters (up to 53). Play land. Tap out, doubling counters. -> 106 counters T6: Untap 6 permanents (up to 112). Play land. Tap out, doubling counters. -> 224 T7: Untap 7 permanents (up to 231). Play land. Tap out, doubling counters. -> 462 T8: Untap 8 permanents (up to 470). Play land. Tap out, doubling counters. -> 940 T9: Untap 9 permanents (up to 949). Double counters. -> 1898

Not the best use but the Mobile Throne seems tailor made for Brenard, Ginger Sculptor. It's already a golem so you can pick a different type for other synergies, it will double the number of golems made by splicers and if it dies when Brenard it on board you will just end up getting even more triggers...

Seth and names inspirered by Mesoamerican languages is a game-ending combo. Whether it's winning or losing depends on if you are probably better known as SaffronOlive.

Sovereign Okinec Ahau works really well with Wedding Announcement! Since the hymn effect grants everything +1/+1 you can now give everything a free +1/+1 counter (even himself). Any sort of similar effect just turns really strong. Be it King Darien, Ritual of Hope, Restless Prairie, Virtue of Loyalty or something like Glorious Sunrise. Other shenanigans are Unnatural Growth (just absurd xD) or Zopandrel which both just close games out really quickly! Already on his own he is a 9/11 when attacking and then it just starts snowballing... I think Jetmir is cool, no doubt, but just way too clunky and if you can get to the 9 creatures the game should be won already when everything gets +3/+/0 trample, double strike and vigilance. So a G/W or G/W/X go wide token deck could really abuse this one. Or you throw it into the 5-color legendary pile deck with Jodah! :D
