Not in a real zombie apocalypse in a real one all it would take is a single solitary scratch and that person would be done for they'd need better ranged weapons

Melee combat in this scenario is basically a death sentence yes they had armor but there're also gaps in that for mobility reasons yes they had shields but that only protected from the front and when they're forced to retreat and some soldiers are left behind those armored soldiers would be Rome's downfall

@@minecraftpro2074 they did use long range weapons but they also used swords and spears which gives them more range to do damage without getting cut

@@shadow_elemental4622 yes however one screw up from a heavily armored soldier and it's pretty much all over their long bows wouldn't be able to pierce their own armor and it's pretty much impossible to not screw up

What you guys should’ve done is hold the gate while shooting at them with ur archers and two people on the walls and one person down below firing at them but will tell the other two when the gate falls then and not pushed out until they broke the gate and once they did you hold it as a check point until u guys have zero troops left and u guys keep bringing in reinforcements
