Well it's kinda hard for me to explain but an example: at the end of the second book, when Enola tries to save Cicely, she wishes that they could be great friends. she wants them to be partners. In fact; Enola told Cicely her real name, having no idea if she could trust her. Well, long story short Enola fails to protect her and when the guy that is after cicely tries to kill her. Enola gets REALLY mad. She took her knife (she always has one with her in the book for protection) and stabbed the guy multiple times. You wouldn't do that for a woman you met 15 minutes ago, would you? She brought her to Dr Watson and was sad (like really sad, she blames herself a lot, really) since she thought they would never see each again. The 4th book (they meet again) has so much.

I've read the 4th book by now and he does act differently to her at the end of it (which is not important since they live in the timeline of the 3rd book) but INFRONT of enola he definitely isn't the nicest man. He doesn't like how she acts either, since he can't stand woman like her (that act like her?) Idk if you ever read the book but in one scene she is about to be caught by Sherlock. She was in fact in a costume but he definitely would have noticed that it's her. In the short amount of time she had to do something she decided to be a very "quick-tempered/passionate" woman and he didn't even look her in the face. He couldn't stand her and the way she acted. He's disgusted by such woman and I think he's afraid enola would turn out this way too. So he's pretty strict with her.

A little child and an almost grown up woman? There is a scene in the books were Enola gets extra mad because a man is threatening Sarah (He's literally trying to unalive her) and instead of running away because that dude tried to unalive her (enola) too (crazy story btw), she runs to him and tries to mиrder him. Later she reveals herself to her brother for Sarah's wellbeing?! Would you do that for a random "beautiful" girl? I don't think so. If one of them was a man you'd totally ship it
