This video is a composite of the first 2 of the 4 flights of my RC 1.1M wingspan Voodoo Mustang on 27 June 2024. I flew with some 4S LiPo batteries from SMC-Racing.com. They are HV (can be charged up to 4.35V/cell). I charge mine to 4.33V/cell. The capacity is 2800mAh at 4.35V/cell or 2400mAh at 4.20V/cell. Flight 3 can be viewed here: • 1.1 Meter wingspan Voo...
I use 2 TIMERS for my flights. One timer is a countdown timer for anytime the THROTTLE is above 15%. The second timer is anytime the THR CUT is off, meaning the plane's motor is enabled. That means anytime the THR CUT is disabled to when I reenable it after taxiing back the timer is counting UP in time. It gives me Total Flight time, including any zero throttle glide time.
Flight 1 - 11.55 mins Total flt time; 9.0 mins above 15% throttle, Ending voltage 14.80V
Flight 2 - 11.30 mins Total flt time; 9.6 mins above 15% throttle, Ending voltage 14.74V
Flight 3 - 13.75 mins Total flt time; 9.1 mins above 15% throttle, Ending voltage 15.10V
The batteries used on the 1st 2 flts were charged to storage levels of 3.85V/cell after the flights.
I had been using a 6 min timer but the batteries were coming down with almost 50% of capacity unused. So I used a 9 min timer on these flights. Looks like an 8 min timer would be better on future flights.
