A week to late. I just did that to my sons 06 YZ125 I think it still has the original bearings in it.I dont even clean mine I just pack them with more grease but we are careful with the presure washer.I do the same thing with wheel bearings,pop the side cover off clean and replace the grease.look foward to the "no start " video had the same issue with a friends KDX Keihin.Start then would just die.Tore the carb down twice and it looked good but no luck?? Great job as always

Thanks! Yeah packing grease in there works too. I do that with my swingarm bearings if I pull the motor out before 200 hours. Surely gotta be careful with the pressure washers. The KTMs are actually the worst at allowing water through the seals if a pressure washer is used too closely, even the wheel bearings on the KTM's.

My CRF450RL linkage had a light layer of grease. It did its job but from now on it’s getting cleaned and greased yearly. However, my swingarm bearings were very dry and had light corrosion starting.

Right on, yearly is not a bad idea.

Once again, thank you for the knowledge! Going to teardown my DR350 after this season and see how the linkage/stem bearings are doing. Everything feels okayish right now, but would love to refresh it and keep the bike in tip top shape

I don't know about them greasing them better now and days a lot of the new bikes that get pulled apart that I've seen have virtually 0 Greese in the linkage bearings. I would rather be safe than sorry. Especially purchasing a new bike. I would at least pull it apart and check.

Have not seen dry linkage bearings or any MX bearing dry unless water had entered and started breaking thing's down. been in over 1k for sure. The first guy here who makes a video of a new jap MX bike with completely dry bearings will personally receive a T-shirt of choice on my pocket.

When new the grease is more of a clearer grease it can often look like there is not much but its more than it looks like. For me I will take the chance because it has saved me so much time.

@@UpAllNight91 That's a good question.I just stuck it on from the outside pushing it into it I think I got it inthere an the front of bike where turn wheel I put it there too how many hours will I get out of my crank it looks new buy I put 50 hours on bike last 6 months I had it I clean airfilter every 3 rides an oil in gears I try take good care of it I do 25.1 like u I run bike hard an 3 gear slips sometimes u think I need new clutch plates I did change them 4 months ago I figured I burn them up by now lol slamming gears full throttle I given lectron carb he'll of abuse lol its holding up so far

@@michaelgarland579 Crank can last a long time if treated right. These YZ125's cranks hold up well. I have 125 hours on mine and my wife has 325 on hers. The 3rd gear slipping might actually be the gear itself. If all the gears slip its the clutch, if only one gear slips its the transmission. Hope its not that though.

Loving theses vids! My 2020 YZ125 came greased well. Took it apart to install a Yamalink lowing link after a couple rides. Then after install a few rides later a little play developed like you mentioned in the back wheel. I Torqed to spec, but am gonna tighten them up more to see if it helps. I don't trust my tourque wrench anyway she's old. I'll go by feel. My friends used to call me "The Human Tourqe Wrench" when working on their stuff so I'll be fine LOL. Thanks for these vids.

Thanks! LoL, yeah nothing wrong with going by feel if you have a good feeling for it. That linkage bolt that goes through the swingarm is the one I find often needs a good amount of torque to keep it from having play.

I use diesel to clean parts in a can / small bucket. It works just as well as gas but much safer to keep stored in the shop.
@UpAllNight91
@UpAllNight91 Ай бұрын
Right! I would totally use diesel if I had some around. The gas I'm using is from bikes that had old gas in the tank so its free. But diesel is surely a better option.

I didnt use a torque wrench, thats correct. But as I mentioned in the video if you need to the specs are in the manual. I been doing this for years and have a good feel for it.
