Is this the hiro boy set. I am wanting the moving chain and I am not sure if it was this one or the top studio set 🤔
@davidchitham91012 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff. No, this is the Hobby Design chain. If you want the moving/ working chain you will need the Top Studio set. They both have different chains for different bikes, but it really doesn't matter which one you get. The only difference is the colour. You just make the chain the right length to suit whichever bike you're putting it on. Hope this helps.

Amazing! is it compatible with any tamiya 1:12? got panigale but no specific chain for it. also, just plug it, no glue? strong attached enough to not come off?

David, I have never seen a chain kit where you did not have to cut the individual links off yourself. You won't find that type of kit for an RC213V"14 Repsol.

How did you get the pins to stay in place while you put both sides of the chain on?. The instructions say to assemble it all then crimp the pins down but yours looks rigid before you have put the Gold top links on.
@davidchitham91016 жыл бұрын
Yes Adrian, it is rigid. The inner row of links is one piece like the plastic kit chain. I have superglued all the pins into one half (or side) and then I laid the other half on top of the pins and glued that into place. All the pins are now fixed in position between the 2 sides and they all protrude out far enough to put the outer layer of links on. With the inner layer being silver and the outer lay gold there is a very nice colour contrast that highlights the chain when it's in position on the bike. This is a non-working HobbyDesign chain which looks very similar to the working Top Studio chain. I have 4 Top Studio chains but haven't assembled one yet. When I do I will put up a video of it. The HD chains are a discontinued line and very hard to find now.

Dr Dave thankyou. Did you crimp the pins in the end or just let the superglue do the work?
@davidchitham91016 жыл бұрын
I just let the superglue do the work. As it's not a working chain the pins didn't need to be crimped like they do in the working version. When I video my working chain assembly I'll try to cover any aspects that might be missing from any similar videos.

Dr. Dave, where did you get this kit and who made it?
@davidchitham91018 жыл бұрын
Aaron, the kit is produced by HOBBY DESIGN. They put out a range of different chain kits for different bikes. I don't know if they are different lengths to suit particular bikes, but I know the sprockets are different in each kit. Also, some have silver and gold links like this one, and others are all silver links. This chain was for a Honda RC211V but I cut 3 links out of the top and bottom to shorten it so it would fit my Harley Chopper. You can get other chain kits produced by TOP STUDIO of Japan. These are far more difficult to assemble as they are working chains and each link has to be put together individually. Cost of the chain kits varies and can often be about the same cost as the bike kit. Hope this helps you, and if I can help with anything else let me know.

did you use ca glue Aaron?
@robinhooduk82557 жыл бұрын
so basically its a cast metal part with PE, the prices of these chains now seem like a rip off.
@davidchitham83887 жыл бұрын
There are no cast parts. It is all photo etch. Yes the price is a bit steep these days, but we can't stop the price rise. If you want it bad enough you buy it and don't worry about the cost.
