The box art for those kits was really awesome. The Doven Wolf, the R-Jarja, the Jamuru Fin and the Dreissen's were especially nice.

I was hoping after the P-Bandai Cannon type and Uma Lightning High-Mobility Type and Johnny Ridden’s that we might get more Gelgoogs like this… but no luck so far

How much different is this to the PBandai HG Regelgu your reviewed 6 years ago? The new one definitely won't need glue like the old kit, but what are the other differences?

Proportions, details, articulation. It’s basically better in every way - other than price

Plus the Pee Bandai kit has the beam gun that is in the old kit’s instruction sheet but not in the box. (The old kit’s instructions had a disclaimer that it was not included.) Although the more modern HGUC kit is miles better in most ways, the old kit was awesome for its time. It’s main shortcoming was the lack of polycaps. But it and the MSV kit it was based on were the best Gelgoog syou could get in the 1980s. The OG 1/144 Gelgoog was really bad!
