1. Technologies and philosohical perception of the world are interconnected - today (perhaps as always) this question is especially reasonable. 2. Everything new - is well forgotten old.

“The modern philosopher had told me again and again that I was in the right place, and I still felt depressed even in acquiescence. But I had heard that I was in the wrong place, and my soul sang for joy like a bird in spring.” ― G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

Truth is always the best option, but as we can never be sure about it, scientific theories tested by observation are better than nothing. So what's the point?

Hi OG'GHAR2 omz, there's not a straight philosophy degree at undergraduate level, no - you'd pursue the subject in a joint honours degree such as PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) or something like Philosophy and Modern Languages. Take a look at the course listing on our website to learn more, and/or take a look at the graduate admissions section, since at that level pure Philosophy is something you can pursue.

Philosophy was born out of skepticism. It has always existed as long as people have had dissenting opinions. Almost certainly a trait of the minority, the intuitives.

Philosophy was born in Africa. Greeks, including the ancient Greek philosophers, travelled to Egypt and were educated there.

xamarmm I think what the OP might have been getting at is that philosophy in some form existed before Ancient Greece. To suggest that Ancient Greek philosophy as we know it directly came from Egypt is quite contentious. When people discuss the birth of philosophy (at least in the west, which raises some alarms of cultural bias), they really mean the birth of organised philosophy in an academic context. There were many ancient philosophers predating Greece but their philosophy tended be more ambiguous than what was inevitably practiced in Ancient Greece. To suggest that Ancient Greek philosophers insisted "on mathematical proof and certainly" in "the way we have adopted in modern times" is giving them too much credit. Although we enjoy finding examples of that sort of scientific rigour being used then, it was still very infrequent in Greece. Consequently, such notions as the geocentric model were long accepted with little skepticism.

America cannot anymore be named after discovery because evident were the Indian tribes who were already living here..Books of history need to be revised everywhere for the ignorance of the Indian human beings right at that time being lively inhabitants there in American continent.

Yawn, Native Americans were not the first in America, and even if they were it doesnt preclude the western world ascribing western naming conventions to them. Also, the 'Indians' you refer to was another Western naming convention incorrectly applied to those people... so please check your own privilege before making such sweeping and silly statements.
