@ultimatesteve96473 жыл бұрын
@@BradleyWhistance You might not want to use this, as it is technically a glitch, but if you leave the Kerbal on an elliptical orbit with a periapsis just above the ocean, go to the tracking station, time warp until the Kerbal is at periapsis (the game won't delete the Kerbal because he/she is still in orbit I think) and then load him/her. Should slow down super fast, before the heating kicks in enough to be deadly.

Hi Brad, I have a suggestion for you which is more of a piloting challenge than a build challenge. My proposal is "single burn to Minmus". Starting on the surface of Kerbin, launch directly to an intercept of Minmus, so the rules are: (1) no lighting additional engines after leaving the surface of Kerbin, (2) no throttling down below 33%, (3) when you shutdown your engines after launch you must be on course to reach the sphere of influence of Minmus. Bonus points if you can pull this off from the Woomerang Launch Site.

I wonder if it's possible to change up the mission profile by having a kerbal remove parts from the vehicle mid-flight. I don't know enough about planning the kind of mission that relies heavily on the quirks of stock KSP to function for me to be able to make any reasonable estimates on how this may work, but it does seem to be an option that might be possible to consider now.

Would it be possible to bring up a second (or more) EVA fuel tanks, maybe in a container, or if possible not attached, just sitting in the fairing? Then go EVA-only from LKO all the way to Minmus and back,? This might end up making the craft heavier, though.

I'm wondering how light rotors are. I'm thinking of a solar-powered rotorcraft to get out of thick atmosphere, and ion thrust the rest of the way. The kerbal would have no inventory or perhaps a parachute; that would be part of the saving, so it might be best to count the kerbal and inventory as part of these things. I might try this but don't have the patience to do it well. I'd be happy if someone better than me did it.
