As I mentioned in my latest Channel Update, I've re-started this project with a deadline of end of August, 2022! I will be doing a series of build "log" videos leading up to then, with the first one coming out very soon as I've finished the tail already and am moving on to the sponsons and then engine. Stay tuned, and thanks for being patient! Cheers, Chris

Most assuredly on my list! And a second one I would convert to a CH-53K, the latest variant in the U.S. military. Then, a third one I would make as a USMC version, building it in conjunction with the Italieri 1:48th-scale kit of the Lockheed Martin C-130H Hercules USAF Transport, which I would modify to a C-130E/H Hercules USMC Transport-Airborne Refueler; I would combine them into that conjoined operation. This would require motorising their respective propellers and rotors. Just for fun, I might build the 1:72nd-scale counterparts as a practice exercise, which I would station behind the larger models.

You can use the Archer's Rivets to your advantage, when it comes to creating the tin can effect, as the have carrier film, it would enable better blending in.

Hey man, I have it in my stash too. got some detail sets for it too. Academy is one of the worst kits I have had experienced. it is so good you are taking the lead for the build, I'll following an expert is a good learning approach

Thanks - new tool Academy is miles ahead, e.g the 1/35 AH-1Z Viper is superlative. So yes this one will be a challenge - Ive almost finished the tail, video coming soon. Cheers, Chris

@@beckersmodels Can't wait to see that. I've been building my models in flight mode too and the other day I was thinking the rivets are raised in the real world so why are they recessed on the kit? Also was in two minds to grab the reskit resin for the CH-53 or not. I had a bad experience with their exhaust nozzles for the Hobby boss F-111. it was deformed, has nasty textures at some spots. and recessed lines were totally faded on some other spots. They sent me a second set but it is not any better so they made a very bad first impression on me. When I watched your video, I was shocked. You are answering all my questions 🙂🙂🙂 Wish I could subscribe and like a million times

@@beckersmodels Btw Chris, have considered using magnets inside the belly of the plane and a second magnet on a stand to pose the kits? something like "magnetic handle 60w produced by RP Toolz"

Its a real shame Academy discontinued this kit along with most of their great 1:48 helicopters as well like the Ch-46 and the MH-53 wish they could reissue them.

Chris, I am doing the same build almost part for part. How are you mounting the head assy? Im a little stuck on that.
@beckersmodels3 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug, I think I'll use the the kit part and shove that into the Reskit resin head, reshaping as necessary. I will also likely put a support rod underneath to brace the whole assembly. Cheers Chris

@@beckersmodels I ended up using the lower mount, moving it down, bracing it and was able to use the reskit transmission.

I’m looking forward to seeing this one!! You may have already thought of this, but since you want to display it in the air and suggesting you use the lifting of the shipping container idea, is it possible to use thin enough acrylic rod that’s manipulated and painted disguising as the 4 lifting straps? Cheers Mick
@beckersmodels3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael, yep already thought of that - using guitar wire or similar disguised as the lifting straps, but I came across an even more dynamic display idea...hope I can pull it off. Need to clear some of shelf of doom kits that are bugging me and I can get on with this (Ive nearly completed the tail, lots of scratchbuilding and rivets...) Cheers, Chris
