When doing that I always use a 5 foot cable work like a beaver drowner but pulls the animal off the trail so the catch circle doesn't mess up trail. Only adds 20 seconds to making the set

That trap is very versatile. I’ve seen several cats and coyotes in them. Heavy made,one of me favorites.
