The only people that should be opening these boxes (without terrible fear of loss or gambling addiction) are well into the 6-7 figure range. “Normies” have no business doing anything more than watching recycled 7 year old videos or simply dreaming. Ohtani’s 2018 chrome autos are almost to the point of (Kanji) legend. No point, at this point imo. Especially considering the lack of prominent firsts in 2018!

This is the year I seriously began collecting I remember buying hobby boxes for 35$ a pop of Topps update in 2018.. now I can't even afford a normal 2024 hobby box. Just killed the hobby for me. My local Walmart blaster boxes are 35$s

$35 for the hobby box must have been around Black Friday that year. There was a bit of a lull in hype then (some probably to do with Ohtani injury and Angels terrible).

That Ozzie is worth about $60, one of the better autos, yet less than 1/10th the value of even a mini box! These boxes are priced so thst you have to get a numbered Ohtani or it's a huge loss.

Seems like just like in the majors, Darwinzon Hernandez had trouble hitting the zone with that auto

Just looked it up - 7.7 BB/9 in his carrer 85 IP. And 16 ER in 6.2 IP in 2022 which sealed his MLB exit. Did quite well in Japan this season though.

60 card out of 200 (technically less than 60 since you receive inserts and parallels). So, you might need to buy 4 boxes of Bowman Chrome to extract one base Ohtani rookie.
