💯 Your model looks beautiful! What's particularly impressive is how you've skillfully applied fundamental techniques to get the most out of a simple kit. The most fascinating aspect is that you've demonstrated it's not necessary to load a model with tons of aftermarket parts in our hobby. This is modeling at its finest-congratulations!

Thanks Patrick, I agree, it's not necessary for a good build, some refinements can help but they are simple things, like the reinforcing of the panel line or thinning parts.!

I've watched quite a few of various build videos and this little plane has been surprisingly most satisfying. Excellent cinematography. Your hard work on the spars was so well done I think the "judges" may have assumed this was an effect of the model, not your talent. Outstanding, sir.

Found the info I needed: "Photographs have emerged of captured Sopwith aircraft in German markings - ‘Strutter’ A1914 at Alderschof after it was captured last September when the pilot got lost on its delivery flight, ran out of fuel and landed in German territory and 3(N) Sqdn ‘Pup’ N6161 shot down 1st February this year. Both pilots are prisoners of war." That was from Kingston Aviation, Sopwith Day by Day which is online if anyone wants to see the pics. 'Aldershof' is most likely a misprint of Adlershof, an airfield in Berlin.

Thanks Simon ! I found that blog when researching this one, there seems to be another one with fully green sides and a linen patch around the serial number. I couldn't find pics of my specific version. Good luck with the builds, bit more wiggle room in 48th
@Simon_Nonymous
@Simon_Nonymous Жыл бұрын
@@lpjmodels yes I'd noticed that Toko changed the serial number to A1913 as well. I've had a good Google and can't find any other photos of her, how dug this up from Kingston Aviation too: "On 13th September 54 Squadron’s A1914 on its delivery flight from Castle Bromwich to St Omer gets lost in cloud, runs out of fuel and lands near Thielt in German territory. It is captured intact and sent to Alderschof for evaluation. 2nd Lt A F Organ is taken prisoner of war." 54 Sqn RFC was based at Castle Bromwich and moved to the Western Front by December 1916. Wiki lists them as flying Pups hower.

TOKO is forgotten company, but I remember how great was my shock, when I saw they made instructions in CAD even in 1998 (I have An-74 from that company). They are surprisingly good. Overall, result is perfect. All the best for You! ;)

Nice build! I like the frame effect with the PC12. Thanks for taking the time to document your build for us. These Toko/Roden/Eastern 1/72 WWI models are quite charming and reasonably priced compared to Eduard. (Eduard 1/72 WWI are such a pleasure to build though...) I bought a stack of these little Tokos from a buddy downsizing a couple of years ago and have yet to build any. The 45 degree crosshatch fabric surfaces are a bit pronounced. After seeing this build I plan to use high build surfacer and sand a bit to get rid of that texture.
