This looks like a real nice bit of work. Was it a kit set or did you make up from plans. Could you point me in the right direction please on both??

Thank you ! It’s GMT Fairey Huntsman 47”. I bought it part built during lock down then finished it . It’s a beautiful model and one I would recommend . It’s a wooden kit

While a smaller prop may reduce the heat build-up in the motor, there still will be heat generated. I'm running a 4250-800Kv outrunner in my 110 cm M.A.S. and used a watercooled mount. No more risk of overheating, and I'm turning a coarse pitch two blade Ø58 mm metal prop on 4S.

Could you have maybe overpropped the boat Mark?
@RcScaleTales Жыл бұрын
I think that’s exactly what happened it’s now got a smaller prop

I found that out myself Mark,when upgrading to a brushless system,especially with a submerged prop, you need to downsize, as the prop just cannot spin fast enough. I'd recommend switching over to a brass prop too,as the plastic ones blades will distort at high rotational speed, due to the drag of the water. Plastic props are fine for low speed applications i.e. cabin cruisers,motor launches, but they're not so great when it comes to the higher performance boats.

Thats just RC luck , I built a RC action man boat using a vintage action man green dinghy with a vintage action man and first time on the pond it worked fantastic until I was just about to come in for a battery change and I could see smoke , the motor had started to burn out but it managed to limp to the edge of the pond and I could rescue it , that was the end of that mornings action lol , its now sporting a new motor but it's been in dry dock since lol
