I was 10 years old in 1980 and got to spend my entire teenage years in the 1980s, emerging as an adult as 1990 clicked over. I feel I was blessed by sheer dumb luck to have lived through culture and times so many wish they could have lived through. I discovered synthwave about 2 years and I've yet to find out what it is about this magic genre that instantly transports this daft old fart back 35 years to the nerdy kid he was hacking away on computers in his bedroom, no idea what lay ahead for him. It's incredible to me that so many young musicians have managed to capture the very essence of the optimism the 1980s held for those of us who were there, you're amazing guys and every track brings a tear to this old fart's eye! ha ha!

I recall many late nights on my green screen Apple ][e with a 14.4K baud Hayes modem (before later being BLESSED with a 28.8K baud modem!) telnetting around the world talking to people or discovering new BBS's. I was obsessed. We really were on the edge of a new frontier. The only thing that was missing was this music.

reminds me of a time that is long gone. sometimes i wish i could forget the present and went back. don't get me wrong, my life doesn't suck, my job and everything else is fine, but actually sometimes i want to live in that moment and that time again, travel back to when my mom bought me the gameboy and my grandfather bought me super mario after my mom told him to buy me super mario for christmas because he have no clue what he should to buy for christmas. there are moments when i really miss those times. i miss my parents and my childhood, and i don't really like those thoughts because they do nothing good in general. meh music is a human invention that can be great and childish/cruelsome at the same time. mom - i miss you. oh shit, now i'm crying again. i'd take the blue pill anytime - just the ability to going back would be awesome. probably no one will read this but it's good to have it written :)
