En Nuestras Manos / In Our Hands
EPISODE 1: An Introduction to the Biointensive Method
Goal: Grow more using less
In this introductory episode we will get acquainted with some of the concepts that will help you to grow food sustainably, and meet some of the leaders in the Biointensive farm movement. Together these visionaries have been responsible for training and inspiring many thousands of farmers; much of that across Latin America and Africa.
Travel to the pre-Columbian heart of Mexico City to the ancient aquatic farms of Xochimilco. Here we discover a farming culture that has thrived for well over 1000 years but now contends with land rendered barren by the chemical‐industrial methods of the Green Revolution. In response, we find a small group who is using the GROW BIOINTENSIVE® method to heal their land and return to a traditional path in harmony with the environment.
Produced by Earth Lodge Studio (earthlodgestudio.com)
‘En Nuestras Manos’ / ‘In Our Hands’ is a project of Ecology Action and was made possible by our generous funders, including Patagonia Works, The Warsh Mott Foundation and Cynthia Raiser Jeavons.

people are stuck on how they think things are and seem unable to look into alternatives - unless it is made "hip" or "cool". John Jeavons' way is the _best_ way - most efficient.

Why doesn't this documentary series have more views? It's incredibly well done and i feel the self suitability aspect of bio intensive gardening would be very popular especially with what has happened this year with world food resource supply shortages. I will be sharing this with everyone!

Mainly, because of new trend called permaculture Sage, which is basically copy and paste of this ;-)

@@wedruskimistrz5122 True but still I feel biointensive method is the most solid scientific actually sustainable gardening method I've come across. A lot of folk have wide eyes when I say that a light till the biointensive way is okay. Talking about the no till crowd. Lol all methods are great I just think this method along with jole salatins animal farming method can achieve a most harmonic way to farm with the earth. Still striving to achieve a close loop community like this in my future. Btw where were you 3 years ago? 😝

@@JohnJeavonsGrowBio By the way I've read your book, really like it, I did 600 square feet in November, planted by Dec 1 in North Texas and am already getting germination. Looking to learn more and get it drilled in my head more so that I can do it for others

I really enjoy this, thanks! Have you visited any farms in Puerto Rico? If so, how are they doing in terms of biointensive farming/gardening?

that mud is washed up onto higher grounds when it floods. That one reason floods can be a good thing and why we shouldn't over-build those areas. They should be kept for farms and nature.
