I've always felt this was the problem with mage: while great players can make it work and even make it good, for the average player, it's much easier to be good at some zug zug class than a mage.

To get even a basic return on mage, you have to work so hard. Every other spec just pushes their main 3 buttons without positioning for the same return. This is def a melee xpac

The problem with the mage class is that you need to know nearly everything about the game to be effective. As you no longer have any time to make decisions while getting hard-focused. As a player trying to learn, it's pretty infuriating.

Having game knowledge will help you no matter what class you play, but yeah the skill floor of mage is prob not equivalent to one of DH for example :) Also, weakauras are OP

@@hansolzy Maybe that's really complicated, but would you know how to create a weakaura that makes a noise when the enemy you have on focus casts/channels a heal? My biggest issue is that I cannot track my focus cast bar while I'm getting focused. :|

Best thing I could recommend is increasing castbar sizes with these scripts as that has helped me a lot with my awareness. I used to not see focus bar casts well enough either /run FocusFrameSpellBar:SetScale(1.40); /run TargetFrameSpellBar:SetScale(1.40);

I recommend Aeghis's arcane mage guide. Very entry level and covers tons of fundamental ground. It's 2.5 hours long as well so it's jam packed with info

I dont refuse to believe that Arcane mage can be succesful. Still, as Arcane Mage main since basically Vanilla. I just find the gameplay too frustrating and unfun. The CC and interrupts have become too excessive. I can fake casts succesfully, but I do absolutely despise this design. It just feels you have to work so much harder than other classes especially melee. They can't be interrupted. But everything I want to cast does get interrupted. It's just not fun and only frustrating at this point.
