I trained in American style of TKD,AMAI.I obtained 4th degree in AMAI TKD.They never teach everything that's needed or required in TKD.I lost my satisfaction and left and jumped ship to WTF TKD.I'm getting way more than I need from WTF. Though I'm only a brown belt. I will say that I'm gaining more.I ran into my last fellow students from AMAI and I showed them what I've learned and was surprised by what they saw.Only a couple more left AMAI and joined WTF and they're really enjoy the classes. Now they're enjoying the changes that they've made.

You should make a video about the TKD sparing rules, and how you feel about them. Some of them I understand, however; there are some that I think are debatable.

Thank you so much for this. I'm a Kuntaw practitioner and it's not that different from Taekwondo. I always take roundhouse blows to my left arm and blocking them but I got dislocated twice from blocking the attack. Now I'll less likely to get dislocated again

tbh i feel like round kicks aren’t the best for defense..i’d try and use a front kick or a side kick they have more power behind them. also even when you’re kicking your hands should be up i think a lot of TKD students have a habit of dropping their hands to their waist level instead of their face and chest 😂🤷♀️

@stanleyumeh22235 жыл бұрын
Keep sparring in class and his reaction will be better over time with repetitive practice

Use object and practice pointing in his direction while moving and have him get used to reacting to different combinations thrown at him

Hey Alex I was wondering do you need to be flexible to do taekwondo?
@kwonshouse70045 жыл бұрын
I'm only a yellow belt atm. I wouldn't say you need to be. But if you are it's a game changer extremely useful
@martinezbarbie5 жыл бұрын
Of course you need to but that's part of the training. Imagine if a marathon runner asked himself "do I need to be fast for this?".
@kwonshouse70045 жыл бұрын
Dont believe that. Taekwondo is for everyone. Dont be discouraged because you aren't flexible. In my classes at tiger rock martial arts. We have old people, young people, skinny, muscular, obese, flexible and those who aren't flexible. But everyone works hard the same and enjoy themselves I'm not super flexible yet, but stretching everyday has narrowed that down a bit. And a response to that other guy. I ran track I was a sprinter and a distance runner. That being said they are two different things. A marathon runner wouldn't rely on speed but a steady pace and his/ her endurance.
@martinezbarbie5 жыл бұрын
@@kwonshouse7004 i didn't mean to say that TKD isn't for anyone. I wasn't flexible either when I first started and I considered myself to be a sack of shit. With hard training, anyone can reach their goals though. Besides, nobody is really born "flexible", it's just a result of how much time they've been stretching. Imagine if bodybuilders were born super-buff and gymnasts were able to do backflips without even practicing them first. Keep grinding, my friend.
@evansketches5 жыл бұрын
@@kwonshouse7004 I'm a Kuntaw practitioner and this video was helpful. You can do leg exercises to make you legs flexible.

Good Video on counter kick but why have you folded Dobok lower. A Dobok must be worn properly. You might have worn a t shirt, short or tights if you were uncomfortable with Dobok pants.
