We had so much fun exploring this Brooklyn seaside neighborhood for a day! The Dutch settled here in the 1600s and this town became one of the busiest freight ports in the world by the early 1900s. After that, trade activity declined and since then it's undergone some re-development. It was also devastated by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and many businesses were destroyed. When we were exploring, we stopped by many delicious restaurants and cafes, as well as a free non-profit art museum. We ended our day with a wine tasting at an amazing winery by the water that uses local grapes and sustainable practices.
If you live in NYC, I highly suggest you spend a day to come here (especially before it starts to get really cold!)
