1. FC SAARBRÜCKEN | FAN CHANTS (Lyrics)
The club began its existence as the soccer section of the Malstatt gymnastics club, which was founded in 1903. This section split off in 1907 and founded the independent soccer club FV Malstatt-Burbach, which was renamed FV Saarbrücken on April 1, 1909. The club was admitted to the Saar district league in 1919, where it played with moderate success. A second place in the last season of the league in 1922-23 was the best result. From 1923, the club played in the Rhein-Saar district league, where it won the title in 1927/28, but missed out on promotion to the Gauliga in 1933.
On March 3, 2020, they became the first fourth-division team in the history of the DFB Cup to reach the semi-finals after beating Fortuna Düsseldorf in the quarter-finals. On November 1, 2023, Saarbrücken (as a 3rd division team) defeated Bundesliga club FC Bayern Munich with a historic 2:1 victory and advanced to the round of 16 of the 2023/24 DFB Cup. There they faced Eintracht Frankfurt, another of the Bundesliga's most established teams. After an eventful second half, the home side won 2:0 and advanced to the quarter-finals.
The Ultras of 1. FC Saarbrücken have maintained a long-standing friendship with the Ultras of the French club Nancy since 1998. Friendly relations also exist with the fans of Fortuna Düsseldorf. 1. FC Kaiserslautern and neighboring FC Homburg are considered the biggest rivals. More recently, rivalries have also developed with Eintracht Trier and SV Elversberg. The club has numerous fan groups: Virage Est (East Stand), Boys, SC95, Nordsaarjugend, Clique Canaille and Leone Pazzo, with around 200-300 people in the Ultra section at matches. On the occasion of the club's 110th birthday on November 8, 2014, the fans designed a huge Tifo.
