@@rugofstars I can't argue against that, but I still feel that my main point still stands. It's not genius just because it barely matches the theme and contents of the song. Because if that was genius then every black and white media should be "genius" for being borderline on the solemn theme. I mean don't get me wrong, absolutely love the music, I'm meh on the character design (don't get me wrong she's pretty, I love her hair), and I like the lyrics. The art is pleasing to look at, but besides just barely fitting the depressing theme and it being a young looking girl (which matches the gender of the vocaloid), it adds next to no value to the video. If you like the art, then you like the art and that's fine. I just think that especially as an artist, it's load of bs to say that it's "genius" when there's so many ways they could have creatively communicated the theme (and still stay simple as OP mentions). But to say it's genius is giving I don't consume enough media, just say you like it and it move on. She's just your average anime girl in black and white...some ppl literally say they don't wanna watch the og video bc they don't wanna see another 12 year old looking loli, now I'm gonna try to imply that anyone who likes the art or design is a weirdo bc that's def not true but I could understand that perspective. It's great, but far from genius from a artistic, marketing, story telling, or whatever perspective.
