@@IdiotWithEducation an easy way is to see the legs. If they're flat like flippers, they can swim (turtle). If they are round and have little nails, it's a tortoise.

I one time tried putting a tortoise near water, but he got scared and, as I was letting it down, started to flail. The dude literally fell down a couple big rocks and dived right into the water. Hope it's still alive and well

@@JODA93 Those are mostly sea turtles with only flippers, Aquatic turtles in lakes and such also have nails, mostly webbed feet tho even if its a turtle it would be safe to just put it near water anyway not in it.
