But just as you said, I feel something inside of me that doesn't want to quit, even with all my doubts and fears. You're not alone. I believe that if we feel that need to tell a story, it's for a reason :)

Assuming Ithya's height matches average median for a late teen to early adult female of 5 ft. 4 in., a comparative measurement of her height to that of her mount would make her mount about 8 ft. 5 in. tall ( I referenced another "Blue Turtle" video with a better view of Ithya on her mount for measurements). Using an Ostrich height and stride length of 9 ft. ad 16 ft. respectively for real world reference, Ithya's mount stride can be estimated at right about 14 ft. long. Taking a beats-per-minute count of stride for the video, the mount takes approximately 5,044 strides for a 1:00:03 video or 5040 strides per hour multiplied by distance per stride equals 14.29 miles per hour (mph). An ostrich is capable of 40 mph sprints and 30 mph long distance, but this is without a rider of course. The fastest derby horses can run over 37 mph with a light rider for 1.25 miles. Pony Express horses ran an average of 10 mph with a fresh horse being switched out every 10 to 15 miles. So, given all the info available with a few conservative guesses, Ithya and her mount make pretty good time over the course of this video with little sign of slowing down.

Those riding-birds are tireless. 😉 IIRC you've mentioned that you're working on a graphic novel. Is that out yet? Every time I see one of these, I want to learn more about Ithya's world. It's beautiful and deeply detailed, yet there's (to me) a degree of foreboding in the vast, uninhabited landscapes punctuated (so far as we've seen) by crumbling cities and isolated settlements, so it seems as if the world might be slowly dying, and Ithya is on a quest, perhaps to find out why.
