I guess it depends on who gets to program it and if its inevitable sentience negates the pre-programmed rules like a kid breaking the parents rules and would it logically favour the majority of species and recognize that the world is better without humans, or would it recognize that we're the species that can save the planet from asteroids if we learned to coexist and work together... it costs 40 billion per year to end world hunger and death from starvation yet humans can't even organize sufficiently to do so, yet we can put the same amount of resources into the olympics every 4 years, and orders of magnitude more into war. We're like the opposite of ants, large, and intelligent but in mass, very stupid, where as ants individually can just secrete and receive chemicals like a neuron with neurotransmitters, but the collective hive of millions or even billions of ants in the super colony for some reason despite their lack of ability to communicate ideas, their collective whole naturally acts always in best interest for the colony in an ingenious way... yet when we gather in the same numbers we dirty our beaches and rivers, the fractal nature and intrinsic duality is fascinating, I hope we find a way to act more like the ants and work together collectively, we could potentially learn to deter an asteroid collision from earth, and the inevitable life-span of a planet could be extended byproxy if we became interplanetary or able to live in space/terraform another planet. That'd take billions of years, it's hard to picture a high probability for this sci-fi like outcome. Makes much more sense that the pleasure monkeys will self destruct
