This is video is such a gem with so many classic aircraft and airlines! I visited Honolulu for the first time in 1998 and flew in a Hawaiian DC-10. I was 6 years old. Also, I love it when the planes land on 26L so you could watch them from the beach 😍

I have been looking for any information and pictures about these 2 airlines. If I'm not mistaken, were they both merged into Air Canada ? I hated deregulation because the "bad boys" like Air Canada and American here in the U.S. ,"ate up" the fun carriers that made air travel an adventure.😞 People who love aviation should start electing candidates to political office, who will help reverse the damage that greedy , selfish executives did to the industry.

This video is as old as the volcanoes !! Shots of Aloha Airlines 737s, Hawaiian Airlines DC-9's and DC-10s that they acquired from American. Continental Micronesia 747 , the flying shoebox ( Shorts 330), 727 ,DC-8, L1011 ? Yep !!! Nice trip down memory lane. Should have known by the " thumbnail" that this would be old footage but I love it !!! This was back when flying was still exciting and fun. That DC-10 @ time stamp 40:25, looks like the fuselage above the cockpit got "smacked" with something. Bird strikes may be ?

Because they changed the law that you have to have at least 3 engines to fly across the ocean. Now it’s nothing but twin engined planes. The trijets definitely looked awesome but they are not fuel efficient compared to what is made now. The US Air Force just retired all their KC-10 tankers at the end of the year it’s sad indeed
