Hi everyone! Thanks for waiting! :) It has been a long 3 months since the last video. After 8 years of doing tutorials I really needed that break to reflect on my channel and overcome getting "burned out". I'm still taking it slow, and there is no fixed upload schedule yet, so I'm not sure how often there will be videos up. As you can see this is the first video to an updated PHP course, since that it the course most people are on my channel for. The existing "old" course on my channel is from quite a few years back, which means it has a few flaws and is just plain "bad" in terms of recording quality ':D So I'm excited about updating it to a quality level that won't need updating for many years. For my Patrons I just want to mention that the first 7 or so videos in this course, were recorded and edited long time ago. So the Patron supporters at the end of the first 7 videos doesn't match with my current supporters. But I will have you all included in the newer videos :) Thank you everyone! Stay safe.

Hello Daniel. Didn't see you for a long time. I can't understand, why you start from the beginning. You already have a procedural php course that is perfect and not "bad in terms of quality" like you wrote. Also, you have OOP php course which is also a perfect one. Maybe it is time for next step? Frameworks. Laravel especially. Thx. #StayHome #StaySafe

I have to chuckle here, because this brings back several fond memories of how I started out, oh so twenty odd years ago. JavaScript was my first programming language, soon followed by PHP. Today, however, I mostly work in either C# or CPP. The main benefit of PHP as I see it is that because it is so loose-typed then it's also a good place to learn how to 'think' in terms of code, rather than first having to learn a whole bunch of complicated rules. Those things can always be learned later on and does vary slight from language to language anyhow, with CPP undoubtedly being the strictest language of all.

Agrreed! The course I purchased for PHP (Beginners) (from one of your advertises no less!), wa touted as the most popular and had the highest-rated instructor, that I felt safe and challenged, simiultaneously. After getting into it , 225 of 340+ lessons, I have become so frustrated withthe instructor's errors, (not even intentional, for teaching debug techniques), that I am ready to hang his course up. From what I've seen of your style and thoroughness, I'm looking forward to your courses.

I learned to program about 6 years ago from your unity videos. I still remember how amazing it was to have those first games run. Since then I have learned more than 20 languages and even though I have drifted away from unity and game development, and more into node and backend web dev, game development will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for making these awesome tutorials years later for new people to try and experience the same thing that I did.

This is the piece I was missing! I just looked up PHP again because I have a new business plan I'm going to try out, and will be coding the website myself. I know HTML and CSS, which is how I'll code it. I also used to know Batch, have touched JavaScript, and know enough Python to piece together a poorly made, but functional, program. I had a friend help me get started on Python: like PHP, it had a barrier to entry where I couldn't figure out where to put the code and run it. I'm used to Dreanweaver, Notepad++, Notepad, and Brackets as a last resort. This gave me that explination, so thank you!

Quick question, he mentions that you require knowledge of HTML in order to learn PHP, is it completely necessary or is it like javascript that it could help but not really necessary? I usually have some problems with XAMPP on Linux. Some of the components (e.g. MySQL) normally won't start. I'm tired of fixing XAMPP, so I think I'll just develop on a real server (temporary website). The internet connection hardly ever fails :) XAMPP also keeps the projects in its own htdocs folder and setting up symlinks to your own project folders is also a hassle (and recently doesn't work on my system). The worst thing is that I have to work in root mode, as the project files are in the installation directory (imagine working e.g. in photoshop and having to have all your projects in photoshop installation folder). So there are all the problems with permissions and things have to be set up each time. Sorry about complaining, but I find XAMPP to be very un-user-friendly (it hasn't changed in like 20 years).
