It's been more than two years since I last did coding. The last time I did coding, I watched your first PHP course and used that to begin our project for school because I had no idea how to do anything. It was such a big help back then. Now I'm back to your channel after failed attempts to relearn coding from other courses hoping that I will be able to do it again with your guidance. Probably one of the best courses about PHP. I wouldn't call it beginner friendly, but makes it very easy to move to Laravel after you grasped all the concepts displayed on the video.

I have been working at a job as a junior TypeScript/Express/React developer for over 6 months. My main job is to rewirte the existing apps from PHP 7 or older to node express and react in order for theme to become microservices. I got the job with 0 php knowlage but recently i started also maintining php apps and fixing bugs. I realized that i need to learn php and your course really helped me quite a lot. I already knew Java and Spring framework as well as Python Flask so i am not new to backend develpment. Thank you for this wonderfull tutorial you got here

After learning a decent amount of HTML, CSS and JS for the frontend. I have been having a hard time deciding on what backend technology I wanna learn and use. I was deciding between Python with the Flask framework (the programming language I'm most comfortable with), JS with Nodejs, or PHP. Rn I'm already learning Python with Flask but I know that it's not in demand. Here in my country PHP and Nodejs are the two that I kept seeing the most in job listings. I'm a little bit hesitant at first about PHP because I read a lot of negative things about it like it has security flaws but since in this upcoming series, you're going to talk about security I'm now motivated to learn PHP.

I’d say nearly everything is covered in this 2023 course 🙂 however the older course doesn’t teach PHP as easily and as in dept as this one, so I highly recommend sticking to the newer one.

As a beginner in web development I am currently in a couple zero to hero type 40 hour courses in Javascript like jonslas schmedttmann course. Would you say php would still be easier to learn for back than node.js with say beginner/intermediate JS skills? Once I get to backend I have decided to go php or node.js. I honestly looking for easiest to learn but the caveat is already having some js under my belt. Thanks

Yeahhhh let's go blow up the algorithm and get this out 🤠 PHP gets soo much hate because of the bad stuff done back in versions 5.5 and lower and people never have looked back. Version 7.4 and now 8 is sooo much better and just fun to work with, specially with a framework like laravel. 80% of the web runs on php so there's a job for you.

I have 8 years of exp as a videographer and video editor. I want to upskill- i feel too limited financially and intecually. It seems like PHP is the fastest track to raise my income threshold via WordPress. I'm a bit more interested in Python I think. Is this series a good starting point to learn to code? Wordpress is based on PHP, so if that is your goal, then PHP is the right choice. Python is also a great language, however 80% of websites use PHP. So you need to ask yourself if you wanna learn “web development”, or you wanna learn a more versatile language like Python, which is more commonly used for other things. And yes, my course is a great starting point for learning PHP. 🙂

Nice! I will say, however, I do think it’s better to teach stuff correctly FIRST, not teach something that functions and come back to teach the “correct” way later. This is especially for the topic of security, it’s better to embed it when you teach everything else. Just my $0.02 from my experience with learning languages.

Like mentioned, the plan is of cause to address security directly related to a specific lesson I upload. 🙂 I know from personal experience that too much “off topic” security, can quickly scare away people who are already hesitant about PHP, because they find it difficult. But of cause when it comes to (for example) handling data, I’m not going to show how to do it “simply” first, and then later say “oh btw, now we need to learn how to escape strings and do prepared statements”. 😅
